The Maniac of DxD (Highschool dxd insert/ semi-crack): Chapter 40
Added 2025-06-26 05:14:05 +0000 UTC“Ren, you expect too much of me.”
“But, can you reforge it?”
Theus glared lightly at his younger friend, who gave him a smug look.
“Blacksmithing is not my domain. You’ll have to look for Hephaestus for it-“
“Theus, enough joking around, dude. Are you doing it or not?”
Finally, the Titan of Foresight sighed dramatically, causing the youngest of the trio to snicker.
“Fine! It's not like this is the first time you had me reforge a stolen artifact for the sake of saving your hide-“
“Hey! I did not steal this damned sword! I got it fair and square!”
Izayoi Ren shouted indignantly while waving around the famed Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi as if it were a baseball bat, making Issei Hyoudou, his student, instantly cover behind his shield lest he get caught in the splash zone.
Prometheus laughed loudly as he finally succeeded in irritating his friend.
“Alright, alright. I’ll stop. But seriously, do you really want me to reforge it? You should know that the divinity within the blade is unique and something I can’t bring back once the sword is melted down and combined with your Gada. I can only add its anti-dragon properties and the potent venom of Yamata-no-Ororchi. If you want its divinity too, you should go to a proper craftsman or blacksmithing god.”
Ren nodded his head at his friend’s words.
“I know. It is why I want you to reforge it. I don’t want any of that stupid divinity of the Shinto, even if said divinity originates from a beast like the Orochi. I am only interested in the venom and anti-dragon properties.”
Then, Ren gave Prometheus a confident smile.
“Besides, I don’t trust any other god or primordial to handle my weapon aside from you.”
I watched as Theus tried to suppress the happiness within him at my words, but could not do so, leading to him grumbling and asking me for my weapon.
Grinning, I handed over my Gada to the titan, knowing that he was not that good at accepting genuine praise and words.
My words were not an act. I truly did not trust any other god, titan, or primordial in the world to handle my weapon.
My Gada is a really big part of my overall strength, including my ‘super-mode’ as Issei is starting to call it, both of which would not have been possible if Theus was never around to help me with them.
It was he who showed me where the Olympians stored their Celestial Gold after I managed to get him out of his imprisonment by negotiating a deal with Zeus (that old pervert was quite eager to agree to all my terms as long as I did not upload the video recordings of our fight).
It was also he who gave me the famed ‘Sacred Flames’ of Olympus that he had once shared with humanity (it is a shame that the flames are not hereditary, which meant that humanity lost the flame’s power in a single generation, hence the reason why Olympus did not outright kill Theus back then for giving such a potent form of energy to humanity without their permission).
The very same Sacred Flame that serves as a part of my Super-Mode and the reason why my body temperature is much higher than that of other humans, along with why my veins glow like magma tubes when I transform.
Given that he has played such a big part in improving my strength overall for simply helping him escape his imprisonment, how can I not trust him? (Although I have to wonder, what the hell was the original Heracles of this world thinking when he left Prometheus to his fate during his quest? And how did he get the golden apples without Prometheus’s help?)
I took out the Kusanagi and my Gada, throwing them at Theus, who quickly got to work.
It is always fascinating to see the old titan at work.
As his domain is that of Foresight by birth, he had to learn the art of crafting, blacksmithing, and other such trades just like any human would. Through hard work and time (although he did have the cheat that he is a Titan, and hence, can learn things much more easily compared to humans)
Among all these crafts, it was Alchemy that he showed the greatest interest and affinity in.
“…Whoa! So cool!”
I chuckled at Issei’s words.
“See? This is why you should pay attention when I am teaching you something. The Alchemy lessons I am teaching you are something that I learned from Theus, so you too would be able to do this in the future if you-“
“Not interested!”
“…Why?”
Issei glared at me as he replied to the question.
“Because I will never have a proper day of rest if I excel in that art. You will throw me out there and tell me to make a living off my skills for the sake of your entertainment.”
“But am I wrong, though? You should be making money by yourself and finally become independent from your parents-“
“No thanks! I still want to enjoy my youth, thank you very much!”
I chuckled at his words.
Silly child. You are not escaping from becoming an adult just because you refuse to.
How can I call myself your master if I don’t out you down on the proper path?
Which means fighting powerful monsters to the death in the morning, and crafting shit to sell and make money in the evening, with a dash of acting as my lacky in-between for the hell of it!
I can’t wait for the day when you achieve Ultimate-Class and become a dependable lackey for me. The sheer potential for mayhem we can cause, Ah~ I can’t wait for that day!
From the corner of my eyes, I caught Issei’s disgusted and fearful look as he inched away from me, similar to Theus, who was already giving a prayer to Chaos in Issei’s name, as if I was going to kill the kid or something.
How rude!
I was brought out of my thoughts when the alchemy circle glowed brightly, indicating that the process was done.
“Oh~ looks like we got an unexpected gift!”
“…Only you would call a weapon that can now kill its own user a gift.”
I ignored Theus’s glum words and picked up my Gada, ignoring the dust on the side that used to be the Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi.
Immediately, I felt the powerful venom of the Ororchi, which was said to be capable of eroding even the soul of its victim, seep into me, as if retaliating for even daring to pick my weapon up.
However, the sacred flames within my soul was not for show as it acted instantly to purify the venom.
“hehe~ looks like I now have a new way to tortu-ahem, interrogate my targets.”
“….Oh Chaos! What have I unleashed?”
“Theus, bro, you messed up big time.”
“Agreed. You gave this insane monkey such a potent tool, now the world is doomed.”
…..Everyone is a critic nowadays.
Also, you have no leg to stand on! Y Ddraig Gosh! You are not called the Crimson Dragon Emperor for nothing, you know!
With our task done, I spent the night drinking away with Theus (Issei got fruit juice, much to his chagrin and the amusement of his partner, given the uproarious laugh I heard from the sacred gear)
A new day will start tomorrow, with my return to school (I can’t wait to see the look on the Sitri girl when she realizes that my days of skipping school are over and I am back in action, hehe~)
And I can’t wait to see what kind of gossip and content I can find this year!
