Save the Day Program, once again. (Gundam IBO/Satisfactory SI): Chapter 3

“Yes, Administrator. We will need more power, a supercomputer, and a modified Lookout tower if we want to intercept the Laser communication bouncing around in the system. If we want to do more than intercept the communications, such as transmit our own signals or trace the signals to their source, we will also need at least two AI Expansion Servers.”
“Fucking expensive ain’t it?”
“It cannot be helped. The Laser Communications that I am picking up are far too primitive for me to parse through our Quantum communication channels.”
I fell silent at ADA’s words and stared at the small factory I managed to set up in the past few weeks we have been stranded on the planet.
Ever since we arrived on this planet, we have been picking up various unknown signals originating from somewhere in the system. Given that ADA was able to easily recognize it as a primitive Laser communication system, we concluded that the source must be some form of intelligent life. However, given their primitive communication methods, the possibility of us establishing proper communication is nearly zero unless we manage to match their systems.
Which is proving to be an impossibility based on my current situation.
A handful of Mk 2 Miners chugged away a few miles apart, digging up Iron and Copper Ore, which is then sent to a few Smelters to produce ingots. These ingots are then sent to Constructors to produce Iron Rods, Iron Plates, Screws, Copper sheets, wires, and Copper powder which is then stored inside Industrial Storage Containers.
What the hell am I going to do with those resources? I don’t know yet, especially since the possibility of vital resources, such as Coal and other such things, to exist on a lifeless rock like this.
And given the lack of these vital resources, the possibility of crafting the materials that ADA asked me to could prove to be a near impossibility.
The Lookout tower is easy since it only requires Iron Plates and Iron Rods. The problem comes from the Supercomputer and the AI Expansion Servers.
To manufacture a Supercomputer, I need a Manufacturer, which in itself requires Modular Frames, Motors, Plastics, and Cables to make. Then, I will need to feed Computers, AI Limiters, High-Speed Connectors, and Plastics to produce a Supercomputer.
As one might guess, to get these resources, I will have to first make Circuit Boards, Cables, and Plastics to make the Computers, before which I will need Plastics and Copper Sheets to make the Circuit Board.
All of this mess is just to manufacture the Supercomputer, which will only allow ADA to parse the Laser Communications and decode them for me to intercept.
To send my own signals, or to trace the signals to their source, I will need AI Expansion Servers, which is a whole other beast.
All in all, the entire process is a fucking mess that I can’t do anything about.
“…..ADA, I don’t think we have any way to manufacture any of those things while we are missing many of the base material requirements.”
“Acknowledged. Thinking of an alternative solution. I recommend you scout the planet to search for the rest of the wreckage from our disastrous arrival into this star system.”
I dryly looked at the empty planet around me.
“And how do you suggest I do that?”
“I suggest you use the Truck or the Explorer to travel the surface and use the Liquid Biofuel or Plutonium Fuel Rods to provide power.”
“But what about providing power for our factory? If I take all the Biofuel, how are we going to power the machines?”
“We have to choose between powering the factory or finding resources to intercept the communications. We cannot do both.”
Her words rang true as I contemplated the pros and cons of the choices.
On one hand, if I kept the factory running, I could stockpile a hoard of primary resources. But the problem is, what am I going to do with the resources when the important ingredients to produce advanced technologies are missing?
On the other hand, if I use the biofuel to power an Explorer and travel to the debris crash sites, I could potentially salvage intact Supercomputers, or if I am lucky, the AI Expansion Servers, which could prove me with a means of potential escape from this world, provided whatever species if putting out the Laser Communications is not hostile to me on sight.
If only the inbuilt generator of the Hub were capable of using the Fuel Rods for power, I would not be having this conundrum.
With a sigh, I walked to the Hub’s back and shut down the generator, making all of my machines come to a grinding halt and stop production.
“Where is the nearest wreckage? ADA?”
“Calculating the trajectory of re-entry, the nearest projections of possible debris are located 10 Miles to the Magnetic North of the planet from our position.”
I nodded my head in confirmation and activated the Build Gun, using the scant few rare resources I had been saving until now to produce the Truck.
While the Explorer is faster, its capacity to carry resources is far inferior to the Truck, and given that the very reason why I am venturing out is to gather potential resources, it makes sense to go with the slower but more useful Truck.
“This better be worth it, ADA, if not, I am going to be very upset at the universe for throwing me such a shit hand.”
“Acknowledged. I will give the universe, as you humans put it, ‘the bird’ on your behalf as well.”
Fucking humor module, I should see if I can’t fix the busted setting in ADA’s programming which leads to such poor jokes.
Then again, I might make things even worse, so maybe I should stay away from such things.
With a sigh, I got into the Explorer and rode off to the North.
Hopefully, I’ll find some intact Supercomputers or AI Expansion servers to make life easier for me. However, I should also prepare for the worst since my luck has always been shit like that and fate just loves to screw me over in the most important of moments.
…..if I ever find out whatever the hell caused that Wormhole to collapse, I am seriously going to commit murder.
