The Monster of Kaon (Transformers Si): Chapter 29
Added 2025-05-02 06:56:51 +0000 UTCI watched from the top of Navitas’s city-form as two bots raced across the surface of Velocitron, darting in and out of the visual range of my optics. One of them was driving on newly made tracks over the cooling surface of Velocitron, while the other flew over the track, racing the other bot.
Of course, it could be none other than Blurr and Windblade, racing over the newly built track as a show for the gathered Velocitronians and other mechanical lifeforms, to signal that Velocitron is back in action and on the road to recovery.
I felt another bot move closer to my side as I kept track of the race, as I was asked to since I was a neutral party that everyone trusted for some reason to keep a fair score, even though I was not from Velocitron.
“I never got the chance to thank you for saving all of us from the Star Seekers.”
I glanced at the femme who was once the leader of these people and simply nodded.
“No need to thank me. What I did, I did for my own reasons. Your freedom and the freedom of the rest were just a side effect of my quest. As such, I do not believe your gratitude.”
“And yet, here we are. Freed from centuries of servitude to the monsters that terrorized the local space.”
Override, the former leader of Velocitron, gave me a serious look.
“I do not care if it was not your intention or if you did it for an ulterior motive. The only thing that matters to me is that you freed my people and me from the Star Seekers. That alone makes you deserving of our gratitude.”
“….I see. In that case, I shall accept your gratitude. But be warned, I do know about the ‘party’ that your people were discussing yesterday, and I do not approve of it. I do not need such recognition, especially when we will be leaving shortly.”
Override gave a wry smile at those words before sighing.
“How observant, as expected of the bot who was part of the elite few that the Quintessons feared during the war.”
This time, I felt surprised and turned to look at her. At my expression, she gave me an amused look.
“What? Did you really think no one would recognize you as anything more than the famed ‘Monster of Kaon’? The one spoken of like a myth by the various adventurers and travelers who still traveled to and out of Cybertron after the collapse?”
“No, I am just surprised. Were you born during the Golden Age?”
“Technically, yes. I was born during its final years. I was a few cycles old when the Space Bridge network was cut off. It is why I know who you were back then. After all, you and your friends were quite famous back then and used as propaganda by the newly formed Cybertronian Council and the Nova Prime.”
I said nothing as I watched the race.
Those were times that I never wish to think about.
After Nova and his council killed Leviathan, I left Cybertron and started searching the galaxy for the Dark Wraiths from my human memories.
In truth, this search was just an excuse for me to escape from the world that took my loved ones from me.
However, I was unaware that after I left, Nova had used my companions and me, those who fought in the Quintesson War, as propaganda pieces to solidify his political position. Ratchet, Codexa, hell, the bastard even had the gall to use Leviathan’s image for his own goals after he had her killed.
By the time I came to know about this and returned, he had already left on a doomed expedition outside the Galaxy, and was never seen again, forcing the council to presume him dead.
“…I see. Regardless, I do not approve of the celebration that you are planning for us. Your people don’t have enough resources as it is. I do not wish for you to waste any of that on such trivial things.”
Override grinned at my words and simply pointed towards the distant racers.
“Then take it up with our leader. Blurr was the one who planned it, and it would not do if I don’t follow the orders of my leader, right?”
“That reminds me, why did you let Blurr remain the leader of Velocitron even after you returned?”
Override smiled at me and sat down, motioning me to do the same.
While my powers were still keeping track of Blurr and Windblade’s race, I humored the femme and sat down on the rock.
“I had always intended Blurr to be my successor as the leader of Velocitron. However, I was taken along with a lot of our older bots before we could teach Blurr and his generation anything significant. And yet, he kept Velocitron going for all these years. Admittedly, there were a few fumbles here and there, but he did a very good job even without the necessary training. So, why not let him continue? Especially since he had already gained the trust of our people and become someone really dependable?”
I watched as Override stared at Blurr’s distant form with a fond look, one I was deeply familiar with.
It is the same look I always had when I watched Megatronus as he performed his speeches during the Ascenticon movement or as he rallied our forces.
The pride of a parent as they watch their child succeed.
“Then, what do you intend to do in the meantime?”
“What else? Race to my spark’s content.”
I chuckled at the excited grin on her face.
Yeah, she is a Velocitronian all right.
Suddenly, she gained a serious look and gave me a slightly concerned look.
“Forget about me, how are you doing? Is the pain gone yet?”
“….Mostly, yes. Although I think I will still feel a few pangs here and there for a few years at least.”
“…Sorry.”
I smiled at Override’s guilty expression and gave a reassuring pat on her shoulder.
“Do not worry, you have nothing to apologize for, and neither does Navitas. There was no way for him to have known that his blessing would cause as much pain as it did.”
And it was the truth.
When Navitas gave us his so-called gift, which was basically his way of saying that he was blessing Windblade and me with his Titan code, I received a severe backlash because of my unique circumstances.
Within my Spark, I held the blessing of Metrotitan and Chela, two of the first three Titans to have ever been born. My source code and brain module work based on the Language of the Primes, which originates from Amalgamous Prime’s T-cog.
Then, I used the Requiem Blaster to pull Velocitron back to its proper orbit, which had unknowingly infected me with some of its code as well.
When Navitas imbued his own code into me as a gift, the result of its integration with all these different codes and artifacts was a spectacular clusterfuck that made me collapse in sheer agony.
It took me an entire week before I managed to calibrate and recompile Navitas’s code so that it became compatible with the others that I already hold, allowing me to get rid of the pain.
But the remnants of that debacle still exist within my body, and I predict that I will feel some level of pain periodically for a few years at least.
Windblade, on the other hand, did not have this problem and only felt slight pain as Navitas’s code integrated with Alchemist Prime’s lenses since that was the only anomalous code she held within her.
I still don’t know why Chela never blessed Windblade like she did with me after our deal was concluded.
Whatever the case may be, I do not blame Navitas or Override for the pain I felt because I knew that what happened was not intentional on either of their parts.
And yet, Navitas still blamed himself for this folly and vowed to make things right by giving me the opportunity to demand anything from him.
Of course, I did not look the gift horse in the mouth and took advantage of the opportunity.
That is how Override has been assigned as the official diplomat who will travel to Caminus shortly to establish an official alliance between Caminus, Eukaris, and Velocitron.
With these three planets establishing an official alliance, I predict that the lives of their people will improve significantly.
Now, all that is left is for me to help restore the rest of the planets that had the misfortune of encountering the Star Seekers.
After that? I will leave for Cybertron.
The unfinished business over there is something that cannot be delayed, no matter what.
