The Maniac of DxD (Highschool dxd insert/ semi-crack): Chapter 25

Rias Gremory did not know what to feel as she saw her best friend’s current situation.

The same went for the peerage of said friend as they watched their master drink from the bottle of whisky while sobbing uncontrollably.

All the while, the three representatives of the Church could do nothing but stare at the two devil heiresses with bewilderment.

Of course, the source of this current predicament was busy munching popcorn and snickering as his actions caused the prim and proper lady of House Sitri to devolve into such a state.

Akeno sighed and moved behind Ren before taking away his tub of popcorn.

“Hey! What gives?”

“Ren, you do know you are the cause of Sona’s current situation, right?”

“And? What of it?”

“You should show some sympathy for her current plight and not make fun of her like this.”

Ren raised an eyebrow at those words.

“She chose to come here and decided that she wanted the privilege of being the top dog in this school. So, she must also accept the consequences of her actions and the burdens that come with her position. You can’t expect privileges without paying the price for them.”

Akeno was stumped at his logical words, making her unable to respond before Ren grabbed her hand and took her out of the room, leaving behind a grieving Sona Sitri, Bewildered Church girls, and a dumbfounded Rias along with their peerages.

“Putting that aside, I got something for you.”

“Huh? Weren’t you gone because of business? When did you get the time to buy gifts?”

Ren’s black stare made the Half-Fallen divert her gaze in embarrassment, knowing that she had spoken something foolish.

Within minutes, the two arrived at the rooftop, giving them privacy, as Ren made sure to use his Tantrik arts and Senjutsu to raise a barrier around the rooftops, as well as Akeno, just in case.

His actions did not escape the girl’s senses, and she instantly became curious.

The moment Ren opened his storage space, powerful divinity, holy, and demonic energies erupted into reality, making Ren hastily reach into the storage and retrieve the gift before closing it down, making the energies vanish.

Despite Ren’s best attempts, Akeno did not escape the effects of the energy as she knelt on the ground in pain, making Ren panic a little.

“Sorry! I did not think-“

“Of course you didn’t. There is nothing in that skull of yours that can give you the ability to think!”

“Hey! That’s uncalled for!”

“I beg to differ!”

The two glared at each other before they smiled as nostalgia filled their hearts, reminiscing of times where they would bicker like this at the Himejima compound, just like any real siblings would.

Shaking his head to get rid of those thoughts, Ren sat down beside her as Akeno quickly recovered from being exposed to those energies, allowing her to sit down properly.

“Here, I snagged this from the Vatican’s Vaults during my trip this time.”

Akeno’s eyes widened in shock as she heard those words and caught the Rosarie that he threw at her.

Unlike a normal Rosarie, which would have subtle but pronounced Holy energies of the Christian God and his Angels, this Rosarie felt tainted to Akeno’s senses, similar to her own energies. The only difference was that this Rosarie did not have demonic energy like she did. The taint on its energies also meant that this Rosarie would not harm Devils like her as a normal Rosarie or any other religious artifact would.

“…..How did you manage to break into their Vaults? I thought they would have much better security in place since they were inviting an accomplished thief like you onto their grounds.”

Instead of being insulted at being called a Thief, Ren just grinned at her words before his Touki pulsed and solidified into another Ren who waved at Akeno’s dumbfounded look before vanishing.

“I knew they would do something like that. That is why I intensified my training of Touki before my travel, allowing me to unlock this ability.”

“……I don’t think Touki works that way, Ren. It does not allow one to create clones or illusions. Whatever you have cannot be Touki.”

“But it is Touki. Everyone says so. As for its abnormality?”

Ren shrugged his shoulders.

“I don’t care if it is abnormal or unnatural, if it works, it works. Besides, what you saw in not a true Clone. It is a solidified Illusion, a tangible Hologram of sorts.”

“Still…..”

“Hey! What is this!? My interrogation!?”

Ren glared playfully at the girl, making her giggle.

“Just try the damned thing and tell me how it feels.”

“Fine, fine. No need to be so grumpy.”

Akeno smiled and put on the Rosarie, and instantly felt something within her change.

Deep within her, Akeno felt her Fallen Angel abilities, particularly her lighting-based abilities and innate light-based abilities, enhance by a large margin the moment she put on the Rosarie.

“The description on the Rosarie’s casing said that this was an artifact that was taken from a dead Fallen Angel during the Great War by the Heavenly host. Later on, they left the artifact with the church since they did not want its tainted light to be present within their vaults.”

“After I took it from the Vatican Vault, I had a friend of mine steal another artifact from the Grigori that was once blessed by Indra, the Hindu god of thunder, and integrated that blessing into this thing with my Tantrik skills.”

The moment she heard the word ‘Fallen Angel’ , Akeno instantly wanted to take the Rosarie off and throw it off into the distance, her hatred for her father and his race rising to the surface. However, as she heard her adopted brother speak about the troubles he went through to enchant it with a blessing from a god, she reluctantly suppressed her hatred and chose to keep it with her and continue wearing it.

Her hatred for her father and his kind was suppressed by her love for her brother and the value of his hard work.

Suppressing her depressing thoughts, Akeno silently listened to Ren rant about his encounter with the strongest human on the planet and his escapades in the Vatican, losing herself in the peace that she felt when she was by his side.

And so, the adopted siblings spent their time in peace and happiness while a certain Heiress continued wailing in depression and drank herself silly, her peerage and best friend being unable to do anything for her. Leaving the group of Church’s representatives to excuse themselves and move around the school, scouting out the place where they would be living in the coming days.
