The King of Steel (RWBY/ Ozpin SI): Chapter 18
Added 2025-04-12 07:02:19 +0000 UTCI sat as the representative of the Vale council as Ghira gave his speech to the gathered faunus of Menagerie.
It has been a few weeks since my announcement of the worker bots and the Modular Fission reactors to the world at large.
Needless to say, things have gone over mostly well, considering that I had appealed to the top 1% of the population that would benefit from my things.
By doing that, I had effectively delegated the task of managing the public outcry, if there was any, over to the companies that were now tied up with mine.
But this is only the first step of the plan.
The next step is to start working on providing jobs for those who will now lose their livelihood, thanks to my bots.
Already, Seasons Inc. is working on hiring any staff that were recently fired from their place due to changes made by me, but that is only a temporary solution.
No matter how big my company becomes, it cannot sustain the entire population of Remnant who will be affected by my actions in the recent months to some extent.
That is why, I am here today, to start working on the plan I have in mind.
A fledgling of a plan anyways.
The roaring of the people brought me back to reality as Ghira moved away from the stage and motioned me forward.
Time to make an impression.
I walked towards the mike, looking at the massive crowd of people below who held a look of suspicion but also hope as they looked at me.
“I am grateful for Ghira’s words, and he is right in saying that what we have done here will be a beacon for a brighter future for all people of this world.”
Just because I was lost in my thoughts does not mean that I did not listen to Ghira’s speech. Multitasking is the most important trait for any wizard to have, after all.
With my words, the faunus continued to look at me in silence while some of them started to whisper amongst themselves.
I motioned towards the newly constructed small building that stood behind us.
“This, will serve as the foundation upon which Menagerie will begin the journey of self-reliance and becoming a strong power in the world. Becoming a safe haven for life across the world.”
“As the creator of this technology and the owner of Seasons Inc. I am proud to present, The MFE Site-1, codename: Hope.”
At my words, the building behind me lit up as it was planned.
Outwardly, there was no change to be observed, but in the interior, the modular fission rector came online, generating 150 Megawatts of power.
However, this was not the end of my demonstration.
With a thought, hidden silencing wards around the building activated and stopped any noise from outside the building being heard on the inside.
I turned towards the crowd, who had already started to cheer as they saw the graph on the screen behind me, showing the power generation by my system.
However, their cheers turned to gasps of horror as I changed the display to show what was going on inside the building.
“Unfortunately, some of you seem to oppose such a future, preferring to condemn your own people instead of helping them achieve greater heights.”
The fake anger in my voice worked well enough, making the crowd watch the screen with blinding rage.
Because shown on the screen is the image of a bunch of Faunus wearing grim masks, working on installing what was clearly Dust bombs all over my reactor.
“Also, before any of you people accuse me of forgery or manipulation of the video, I’ll tell you something interesting. This video is a live feed. Meaning, what you are seeing is something that is happening right now within that building.”
I turned to the people with a fake sorrowful look.
“If you people want proof, you can catch them the moment they walk out and learn for yourself if I am lying to you or manipulating you.”
“All I want is for everyone to lead better lives and for this world to be a better place. But, just like always, there will always be people who would rather control their own kin through force, fear, and propaganda, rather than let them progress.”
Just to enhance the act a little bit, I acted as if I was suppressing my tears and turned my face into a neutral look before stepping off the stage, heading straight for my bullhead.
I have no doubt that those White Fang goons will meet a gruesome end soon enough, either at the hands of their own people or at the hands of my own bots, especially with the way I have fanned the flames today.
Hopefully, this can deliver the final blow to the White Fang movement and return that group of fanatics back to what they were meant to be in the first place.
If my plan succeeds, I can finally stop focusing on Domestic threats within the people of the world and towards defeating my former wife.
Glynda looked at me nervously as I got on the bullhead and started heading straight for Vale.
“Ozpin, what about the reactor? And those bombs!? What if the White Fang really does detonate those bombs and end up irradiating Menagerie? Why not let me help catch them?”
“Glynda. It is not our problem. The White Fang is primarily a Faunus group, and any action we take might be used by them to twist the narrative and make us out to be oppressors. It is better for the Faunus to handle their own lest we get implicated and all of our efforts be for nought.”
“And as far as the bombs are concerned?”
I grinned lightly at her as I sent a mental command to my backup plan within the building.
Instantly, I felt the reactor itself generate a nearly invisible barrier of magic around itself as it sent out powerful pulses of EMP and radiation, scrambling the electronic components of the bomb.
It was really hard and took me many days of tinkering, but I managed to achieve a new level in my Golem creation magic.
I turned the reactor itself into a golem that I could control no matter where I was in the world, with the CCT towers and boosters serving as the relays for my magic power.
It was not easy, and neither was it fast, but the results are worth it.
‘Hopefully, all this work pays off in the end. Ain’t that right? Ozma?’
There was no response to my words, as I only felt a weak pulse from my other half within my mind.
A fact that made me feel intense spikes of sadness.
I did not want to lose Ozma. Especially when he represented what I could have been if I had been born in different circumstances and brought up in a good environment instead of what I got.
Unfortunately, the gods are as cruel as they are petty, and I can already feel that he is on the verge of fading for good.
The return trip home was silent as I wallowed in my sorrow for losing another person in this new life of mine.
