To be a Human (Xianxia/ Custodes SI): Chapter 1

Author Notes:

Based on the prompt and story request send to me by my subscriber "Phantom knight who can’t think of a better nickname" I present to you people, my take on a Custodes SI in a Xianxia world!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

“I told you, Bai Yunhun, all those years ago. You are seeking death by going against me. Now, you know the immensity of the heavens and earth, HAHAHA!”

Within a massive ancient structure, the young man who wore the clothing of the Boundless Heavens Sect laughed madly as his downed opponent glared at the young man with a bleeding hole in his chest and blood leaking out of his mouth, choking him.

The young man on the ground, now identified as Bai Yunhun, was dying by the second. His robes were similar to his attacker's, indicating that he was from the same sect as the young man.

The golden lining on his robe as opposed to the red lining on the attacker showed the Bai Yunhun held a higher rank than the attacker and should logically be stronger than the young man, and yet, he fell prey to underhanded tactics and became like this.

With great difficulty, Bai Yunhun forced out a few words from his mouth.

“L-Li….Yunxiao….My…family…..will…not…let…you…..go-“

Bai Yunhun was not allowed to speak anymore as the young man, now identified as Li Yunxiao, changed his expression to a cold and ruthless look before using his bare hands, which had now changed into claws, to tear open Bai Yunhun’s chest even more, making it look like the attack of a demonic beast.

With such a devastating attack, Bai Yunhun instantly died, not even being allowed to finish his last words.

With the same cold look as before, Lu Yunxiao raised his clawed hands and inflicted grievous injuries on his own body, shredding his robe and making it look like he had been mauled to death and only barely managed to escape with his life.

Yet, his expressions did not change one bit at such a ruthless act on himself, showing just how far he was willing to go to attain his goal.

Returning his clawed hands back to their regular look, he took out his broken sword and started his great act, especially since spiritual senses were telling him that backup was rushing towards them at extreme speeds.

However, before they arrived, he needed to make one last play to bury all the evidence and leave nothing to chance.

An act that was easy to accomplish thanks to his previous preparation.

Within seconds, three women rushed into the ruins with panic etched on their faces.

The oldest of them had long, silky black hair and black eyes, her mature beauty enough to make any man crazy, yet her power deterring any idiot from trying anything funny with her.

The second oldest looked barely a year or two older than Bai Yunhun and Li Yunxiao, who looked extremely similar to the older woman, making it clear that they were related by blood.

The last one, however, had an exotic look, with strange green hair and golden eyes. She was also the youngest of the bunch and looked to be at least two or three years younger than the two men.

The moment these women rushed in, Li Yunxiao began his greatest act yet.

With a fake despairing look that would easily win him the Oscar if he was on earth, he started crying.

“Master, Senior Sister, Junior Sister,I..I…Senior Brother is…”

Li Yunxiao did not complete his words. Instead, he faked going unconscious and fell to the floor, making the women rush forward with even more panic.

“Junior Brother Li!”

“Xiao’er!!”

The women shot forward and caught his body before it hit the ground. Meanwhile, the oldest woman arrived at Bai Yunhun’s body and started using her spiritual senses to probe for life, her heart thumping hard in her chest in fear and panic.

Slowly, despair filled her being as she concluded that her first disciple had truly died.

But she was not given the time to comprehend this thought, nor was she allowed to grieve.

Li Yunxiao’s next phase of the plan went off without a hitch as the various exploding talisman’s went off around the ruins, taking out the pillars that were supporting the roof of the cavern.

“Master! We need to go, or we will all be buried!!”

With only seconds to decide the fate of her disciples, the older woman stared with despair at the dead body of her oldest disciple.

Despite her power, she would not be able to take everyone out of the cavern before it collapses if she takes Bai Yunhun’s body with her.

On the other hand, if she leaves his body here, she can still save the others.

Her heart clashed against her mind, wasting precious few seconds.

But, in the end, she made her decision.

Mobilizing her entire spiritual power, she took her still alive disciples and fled the cave. All the while, she kept glancing with despair as her heart felt like it was being torn apart by beasts, knowing that she was not even allowed to properly grieve the unjust death of her eldest disciple and was not even allowed to give him a proper burial.

And so, Bai Yunhun, the young master of the Bai family and the eldest Senior Brother of the Boundless Heavens sect, was buried within the hidden realm that they had set out to explore.

Yet, how could his story end so quickly when it had just begun?

The woman had achieved what she had set out to do. She had barely managed to escape the collapse of the ruins, saving the lives of her remaining disciples.

And yet, in her haste, she missed how the dead body of her disciple had started to glow with a golden light just before it was buried under the rubble.

And neither was she able to witness the miracle that had taken place within those caverns

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------.

Have you ever gone for a night of fun with the boys, playing games and getting drunk till you drop, only to wake up in an unfamiliar place?

Cause that is exactly what is happening to me right now.

“…..Ok, this is some bullshit!”

My deep voice echoed throughout whatever the hell this place was as the still air in this place sent chills down my spine.

The most normal response in such a situation is to panic hard, but for some reason, it felt like time was slowing down for me to process things at an accelerated rate.

……Actually, how do I even know that that is what I am feeling right now? how do I even know that my mind is accelerated and processing information at impossible rates?

And why am I not panicking at this strange situation?

Questions for later. First things first, assess my current situation.

I pushed my body off the ground-WHOA!!

A simple push propelled my body into the air, and somehow, I managed to land gracefully, if a bit forcefully, on my two feet.

…….Ok, something is definitely wrong here.

I am a certified couch potato with a pot belly, I should not be able to pull off something like that.

Also, damn! The view up top is really something!

I felt tall. Like, really, really, tall.

I wasn’t exactly short before waking up here. I was a solid six feet in height. But right now, it feels I am way, way, past that benchmark.

Once again, my mind started to behave strangely, and I got a number.

Ten-Feet-tall.

…….Yeah, right. I believe you, brain. You are definitely not under the influence of some kind of drug that my friends must have slipped in and I am definitely not dreaming this shit. Of course not. Whatever you say goes, brain.

With that conclusion, I just closed my eyes and plopped down on the ground, waiting out whatever the hell was put into my system.

Hopefully, when I wake up, things will go back to normal, and not too many days are lost in this hallucination.

I have to get up early and prepare for a long day ahead, and I can’t afford to be absent from work for too long.
