The Monster of Kaon (Transformers Si): Chapter 10

[Space Bridge Activation Experiment]

[Automatic Log #5584 Recorded]

[Initiating Test]

The massive ring that looked like it was made of stone, but was in truth a highly advanced Wormhole device started to shine as the Synthetic Energon from the tanks attached to it started to drain at a rapid pace.

[Synthetic Energon Reserves Depleted]

[Coordinates Set: Caminus]

[Deploying Bridge]

With a distinct crack of air being sucked into another dimension and the hum of the portal interacting with normal space rang out in the surroundings.

But my elation did not last even a few seconds as alerts flooded my system.

[Warning: Portal stability compromised]

[Error: Synthetic Energon too unstable]

[Portal Collapse Imminent]

"SCRAP!!"

I immediately pulled my arm from the Space Bridge and deactivated my powers, disconnecting me from the systems of the Space Bridge as the ring started to smoke. Thankfully, the failsafe I installed beforehand in the structure immediately drained the Synthetic Energon from the ring, preventing the overheating Electromagnetic coils within the ring from igniting the Synth-En.

"Another failure."

"Do not be discouraged, Thread-weaver, this is the closest you have ever come to activating the Bridge. All you need to do is keep trying, and the threads of fate will take care of the rest."

"Hello to you too, Blackarachnia, how are you?"

"I am doing well, Thread-weaver. And I know you are doing well as well."

Despite her strange way of speaking, there was no denying that she is one of the few I could call a friend ever since my exile from Cybertron, despite the way her tribe had unconditional belief in Fate and the thirteen Primes, Just like every other Cybertronian colony.

However, in her case, she can actually see the future thanks to her status as an Outlier. This is a rarity in a Cybertronian colony since they are not born from the All-Spark directly. Unfortunately, just like on Cybertron, her powers made her an outcast even among the primitive Beast-formers of this planet, making her live in seclusion, away from everyone, even the Fateweavers, her own tribe.

From what I gathered during the many years I have spent as Caminus's diplomat on this world, the last time she interacted with anyone was a long time ago, before the Age of Rust and during the Golden Age when Eukaris was still connected to Cybertron. The last public action that she committed was the punishment of one of her own. The exile of Airachnid, a member of the Fateweavers, who was charged with the crime of experimenting on her fellow Eukarians.

Honestly, I thought the Airachnid that the Eukarians were talking about was someone else and not the bot that I had saved from the Institution on Cybertron who were experimenting on her. The Airachnid in my memories was a kind and caring Femme who had gone through a tragic experience that made her closed off to everyone but a selected few.

But listening to the Eukarians, I was reminded of the Airachnid from my human memories. Even now, I do not know for sure if the Airachnid I know and the Airachnid of Eukaris are two different people, or if she was always the monster from my human memories and only acted kind and caring while in the Ascenticons.

The only way to solve this dilemma is to confront Airachnid myself when I reach Cybertron.

"Where is Windblade?"

"The Cityspeaker is flying with Airazor toward the Cloud Walker Tribe. Your meeting with the Four tribes is to be held within a few Kliks (Minutes). So they went ahead to accompany Sonar of the Cloud Walkers while Tigatron had gone to escort Cheetor from the Fur Walkers. I have already sent some of my sisters to escort Dinobot of the Scale Walkers and Manta Ray of the Wave Walkers."

I nodded and started to pack up everything to be transported onto our ship. Just then, I heard the tell-tale noise of Windblade's Alt-mode as she transformed mid-air and landed near me.

"Maximus! We are here."

"I can see that, Windblade. Airazor, I hope she has not done anything stupid like causing irreversible damage to some culturally significant monument?"

"HEY!! THAT WAS ONE TIME!"

The Eagle Beastformer chuckled at Windblade's pouting look before answering.

"No, Maximus. She was on her best behavior while we were escorting our guest, speaking of which."

Airazor moved to the side and bowed in difference towards the bot that I had met a few times in the past few hundred years.

"Presenting, Sonar of the Cloud Walkers."

"Greetings, Diplomat Maximus. It has been a few Cycles since we met."

"Indeed, Sonar. It has been nearly 200 Meta-Cycles since we last met to discuss the new iteration of the trade agreement between Caminus and Eukaris."

"Yes. I admit, I was skeptical of your 'Synth-En' project when we decided to support your experiments by providing the raw resources required for it, but I am happy to be wrong in this instance. Now that you have proven your Synth-En to be a viable alternative for natural Energon, I no longer have any objection to your terms-"

"Careful there, Sonar, lest you put words in the mouth of others."

I turned towards the bot who interrupted the leader of the Cloud Walkers and came face to face with none other than Dinobot, the leader of the Scale Walkers.

"Hello, Dinobot. How is your Servo?"

"Fixed and ready for another round."

Thanks to my featureless faceplate, I managed to hide my exasperation at the bloodthirsty and excited expression on the bot's face.

It was this guy who forced me to perform a public duel with him to earn the right to speak with him on equal footing when I arrived on Eukaris for the first time hundreds of years ago.

He and his tribe are also the reason why I have such a low opinion of Eukarian Culture. At least, they do have one thing going for him.

The Scale Walkers will never go back on their word even in the face of death. This is the only reason that they have earned a certain level of respect from me.

"What do you mean? Dinobot."

"I mean, that any terms proposed by outsiders must be heard by Lady Chela first before any of the Tribes agree with them. Lest they end up as traitors to Eukaris and be dealt with accordingly like the Fire Walkers."

At his reminder, Sonar adopted a grim look before nodding in acceptance.

Fire Walkers was the name that the Eukarians gave to the local tribe of Predacons that had arrived on Chela, the Titan, to this planet when Eukaris was first colonized.

It was truly surprising for me to learn that not only did Onyx Prime save a small tribe of Predacons from extinction during the Age of Evolution, but he also sent this small tribe on his personal Titan and friend, Chela, to Eukaris to start a new life.

Of course, Predacons being Predacons, they caused problems all around and went against the good of Eukaris by breaking some kind of a rule. Something that the Eukarians refer to as the Taboo and refuse to tell me about it.

The end result was that Chela woke up from her slumber and wiped out the Predacons for good, not even leaving behind any fossils for me to collect their C.N.A. (Cyber Nano Algorithm).

"That is why, we should not waste any more time and go to her."

The new voice drew me out of my thoughts. Looking to the source showed the remaining two bots who were the leaders of their respective tribes and together with Dinobot and Sonar, were the leaders of Eukaris, escorted by Tigatron, the sparkmate of Airazor.

Manta Ray of the Wave Walkers, and Cheetor of the Fur Walkers.

"Hello Maximus, sorry for the delay."

"It is alright, Cheetor. I do not mind waiting. It gave me the time to carry out another experiment with the Space Bridge so I can't complain about the wait."

"Any positive news?"

"Afraid not, Manta. While the Bridge accepted Synth-En, I will need to tweak the concentration of the neutral CAN and Water to make it less volatile. The Space Bridge systems are not designed to handle such an energy-efficient form of Energon and it is easier to tweak the Synth-En than to change the entire Energon system of the Bridge."

"Then let's get to Chela and create a new pact with her as the witness."

I nodded and transformed into my alt-mode, followed by the rest of the four leaders, leaving behind Blackarachnia and Tigatron to handle Windblade and Airazor.

Sometimes, despite her age and maturity, Airazor acts more like a child when she is with Windblade, something that the Cityspeaker claims to be one of her greatest traits, much to the doubt of Tigatron, who usually ends up looking after her whenever she accompanies me to Eukaris as an official Cityspeaker, and The Mistress of Flame who usually has to deal with the fallout of Windblade's schemes back on Caminus.

But despite her childish personality, Windblade has grown on me over the past eight centuries that I have known her, which is practically her whole life since I was one of the privileged few who were allowed to watch the sacred process of a Camian's birth and watched Windblade's birth from her Titan's spark.

The young Cityspeaker is someone who has become equal to Megatronus in my Spark, a child that I have taken care of and see as a daughter, despite my greatest efforts of not forming any bonds on this planet that would lead to heartache when I inevitably leave.

Personally, I blame my human side for these emotions, but deep down, I know the truth. It is my loneliness that had originally led me to adopt Megatronus as my unofficial Sparkling and has once again led me to take in Windblade.

And honestly, I cannot complain much. Ever since she walked into my life, my days have been much brighter. It also helps that she helps my mind steer clear of depressing thoughts about how the rest of my friends are doing back on Cybertron, or whether anyone is left on Cybertron at all.

I shook my thoughts away and concentrated on the way forward.

These thoughts can wait for another time when I am not on an important Diplomatic mission.

For now, I have a Titan to meet.
