For the first time in over a year, I felt the familiar buzz of electronic devices in my mind, signifying that I had my original data access system back.

"It is good to see you have your programming abilities back, but can you please stop flooding my instruments with junk programs?"

Shockwave's voice brought me out of my thoughts, making me realize that I had unconsciously flooded all the surrounding computers and medical equipment with junk programs while I was relishing the feeling of having my data access systems back.

"Sorry. I was just lost in that feeling."

"I know. But still, we need to test out the rest of your systems to see if there are any problems with your new body. You also need to get used to the new height of this body."

I nodded at his words and got up from the slab of metal.

My current body was something that Shockwave had been working on ever since I was subjected to Empurata alongside the Cortical Psychic Patch. It was originally based on Megatronus's own design since his body was originally Cold Constructed but I changed the designs when I got them from Shockwave.

While I would love to have the ability to change my alt modes back, I have realized the usefulness of having a body made from industrial-grade Cyber-Steel and the artificial Energon tank and pump system. So I had Shockwave retain those in my new body even if it meant I couldn't change my alt-mode once I set it.

Taking advantage of the newly expanded Energon fuel tank, which was even larger than the one in my previous artificial body, I had Shockwave install a powerful Energon-based Laser Cannon in my right arm. The kind that is usually used aboard spaceships to destroy meteors and space debris.

It was, frankly, and insane idea. No Cybertronian save for a Titan has enough Energon capacity to wield such a powerful laser as an anti-personal weapon. Thankfully, my new body has the capacity to use such powerful weapons.

Of course, to accommodate so many changes and improvements in my new body, Shockwave had to increase the size and height of my new body, making me even taller than before. Now, I easily stood eight feet above Megatronus who was already one of the tallest bots around.

"Looks like everything is working exactly how it is supposed to. Now, go out there. The group has been very worried for the past Deca-Cycle that you were in stasis after your return."

Wait, I was asleep for three weeks??

"Scarp! What about the recruitment drive-"

"Megatronus has taken up those duties as your second-in-command. He has managed to recruit a large number of bots from Iacon, Crystal City, Tarn, and a few other minor cities. Most interestingly, he has managed to amass a large number of recruits from the beast formers and Minicons from Luna-1. a large number of lower castes such as the Energon Miners, and a large number of industrial workers have also been brought into the fold. Surprisingly, a lot of the middle castes, specifically, the Data Caste, have also joined our cause."

"That is good, no, great news. This means our efforts were not in vain and not everyone is as apathetic to the plight of the common bot in this world."

"Indeed. Although, there is something you need to see."

At my questioning look, Shockwave activated a terminal and showed a live feed from our base.

I never did believe in destiny, either as a human or a Cybertronian. But watching a much younger Optimus Prime, or Orion Pax as he is now, argue animatedly with an intrigued-looking Megatronus made me feel like fate was hard at work.

"They have been at it since Megatronus returned from the rallies and recruitment campaigns across Luna 1 and 2. Their discussion ranges from the core tenets of the Ascenticon's cause and Megatronus's literary works to the morality of the Caste System and everything in between. "

"While this is amusing to see, I don't understand why this is of much concern?"

"The cause for concern is the rapid following that Megatronus has gained in the Ascenticon since you went into stasis. Many, including myself, feel like Megatronus is trying to overthrow you as the leader and take control of the Ascenticons."

"Shockwave. You know better than anyone that it is nearly impossible to cull Megatronus's ambitions through words or force. In fact, I think we should not even attempt such a thing since it is this very drive of his that allows him to be so effective in his tasks."

"Be that as it may-"

"Shockwave, I know what you and Soundwave think, but I trust Megatronus. All I ask is for you to give him a chance to prove himself."

For better or for worse, I never could pain Megatronus in the same light as the madman from my human memories, especially since I was there when his spark was first stolen from the Well of Allspark by Sentinel's Security Forces and was placed inside his original frame as a simple mining bot called D-16.

I had rescued him from his fate as a mindless drone through the council's Shadowplay by using my position as the head of the Programming Caste in Iacon and sent him to my trusted friends on Kaon.

However, I was later betrayed by said friend, Prowl, causing me to lose my position and be thrown into the pits of Kaon alongside D-16 as mere industry workers.

It was in those pits that we made a name for ourselves as the most powerful gladiators and I devised the Ascenticon movement.

It was because of these thousands of years I spent alongside him that I was never able to put any kind of suspicion or distrust in him despite my memory as a human warning me.

Then again, it's not like I can rely on my human memory too much since this is not exactly the Cybertron that I knew as a human.

Walking out of the med bay, I was greeted by the sight of a large number of Cybertronians, laughing, talking, and relaxing in a way that I thought impossible ever since Sentinel established the Council and the Caste system during the tail end of the Quintesson war.

"Oh! Maximus sir! You are awake."

Looking down at the bot that was shorter than Knockout, I instantly realized who this was.

"Glitch. It is good to finally meet you. I wish to thank you for your assistance last time."

"Of course. I jumped at the chance to assist you when Senator Shockwave asked for our assistance. There was no way I was letting this chance to meet you escape me."

Oh? He specifically wanted to meet my?

"May I know the reason why?"

"I am a big fan of your work. Your methods of Advanced Programming using simple Neocybex is something that is still being used by nearly every single Programming Caste member on the planet. Your contributions towards decoding the mysteries of C.N.A. alongside Senator Shockwave are revolutionary."

The excited bot suddenly started to fidget as he continued speaking.

"And, there is also the fact that your powers as an Outlier are similar to my own."

If I had a face, I would have smiled at this young bot, even with the knowledge of his potential future.

"…It is very flattering to hear that my works are appreciated by the younger generation. But aside from that, why are you not at the institute with the rest of your class??"

"Oh! Senator Shockwave moved the Outliers class from the institute to this place for safety reasons. Something about 'the council's glitchheads snooping about'?"

I shot Shockwave a dirty look for using such words in front of younglings. He immediately turned his head away from me and gazed into the distance with interest.

This guy. Sometimes, I wonder if it would have been easier to deal with a logical Shockwave than this chaotic version of him.

"I see, then I won't hold you anymore. You can return to your friends."

"Yes sir! Oh! And someone called Knockout wanted me to inform Senator Shockwave to head to the western entrance to the base. He said that there were potential recruits waiting for screening before they could be allowed to join."

I nodded at the young Glitch as he ran past us and deeper into the base.

Potential recruits that required screening? Who could possibly require screening from someone in such a high position as Shockwave?

Interesting. But before, I need my new alt-mode. If I don't get my wings back soon enough, I will definitely fall victim to Seeker Madness.

"Stop with that look, Maximus. I know what you are thinking. Follow me."

Walking with Shockwave, we soon arrived at the hanger where most of our transports are located, protected from the Rust Worms, Scraplets, and other forms of fauna in the Rust Sea by a thick slab of Cyber-Steel painted with organic compounds.

And there stood the perfect vehicle for my alt-mode.

"It was not easy, smuggling a military-grade cargo ship all the way from Kalis, especially when all military hardware is under strict supervision of the Security forces. Thankfully, my contacts managed to deliver their end of the bargain. Go on, we have places to be."

Without wasting time, I scanned the military-grade cargo ship, saving its schematics directly into my brain module.

Within a single second, I felt my T-Cog respond to the scan and start shifting my body to accommodate my new alt mode.

I used my data access system to directly connect with the hanger doors remotely and opened them up.

Shockwave immediately shifted into his tank form as I transformed for the first time in over a year.

With a powerful hum, the Energon thrusters on my frame activated and hurled me across the sky at speeds that no civilian-grade cargo vessel could hope to achieve.

It was only a matter of a few seconds for me to arrive at the west gate, but I slowed down just enough for Shockwave to catch up with me.

And just as I landed at the quarantine center at the gate, I realized the reason why Knockout wanted Shockwave to perform the screening.

"Just how long do you plan to detain us here?? I knew this was a bad idea! You are no better than the council-"

"Nova, calm down-"

"Calm down?? Elita, these guys have quarantined us in this, this, prison for over three Joors now, how do you expect me to be calm??"

Watching the two femmes arguing loudly while three other femmes watched the argument with clear worry, I felt the urge to facepalm.

It was not because I recognized all five of these Femmes as Elita-1, Novastar, Moonracer, Lancer, and Greenlight or the fact that they were future Autobots.

No, the reason for my annoyance was the fact that an entire team of Security bots working directly under the Council had decided to defect.

Sentinel is going to go crazy.
