Jin Tianrui sat on the ground, cross-legged, as lightning flashed across the sky.

After our return, I did not waste much time and had Jin Tianrui start absorbing the Primordial Yin Wood and Netherworld Yin Spring to increase the quality of his spirit roots as well as give him the powers of both the natural treasures, ensuring his safety and increasing his potential for cultivation.

After all, it was the primary reason why I ventured into the secret realm in the first place.

Just like I expected, the moment Jin Tianrui began the process of absorbing the two treasures, the Heavens immediately expressed its discontent and started to lash out with lightning.

Throughout history, while many people have come in possession of more than one natural treasure, none were brave or foolish enough to absorb more than one into their bodies.

This is due to the strain put on both their physical bodies and their souls by the powerful Qi of the natural treasures.

However, in Jin Tianrui’s case, he has a cheat in the form of me, his master, who can help him with this burden and heal any damage done to him.

It was while doing this that we finally discovered the source of the anomaly that took place during my fight against the Autumn Fang Holy Land’s forces.

‘Seriously, you can never do anything without turning the rules of the world on its head, can you?’

‘Like I said, don’t ask me such things. I have no idea why or how I achieved such a power instead of a regular domain like any other Soul Transformation realm cultivator.’

‘And I must deny that theory again since I can’t understand how cultivating a natural form of Qi leads to developing a pseudo domain that controls the very world around me’

Yup, my initial assumption that I did not form a domain after my breakthrough was wrong, at least partially.

Turns out, I did manage to develop a domain, but instead of a regular one where a cultivator overwrites reality with their inner reality, as always, my new power proved to be just as bizarre as my cultivation up to this point.

In essence, I can control the very world around me, both physically and spiritually. And I can do it unconsciously as well.

That is why, my senses expanded to cover the large patch of the world around me back then. This is why the people of the Autumn Fang Holy Land could not land a single hit on me despite going full power.

It was because the very world responded to my subconscious emotion to dodge and manipulate the environment to save me.

The world itself manipulated the air, the Qi, the earth, and everything around me very subtly so that none of those attacks would land on me.

In simple terms, my domain is the literal definition of Plot Armor.

Just another confirmation on top of everything that I am one of the main characters of this world.

Thankfully, Xiang and I decided collectively that it would be in the best interest of our health if we did not leave the village for the foreseeable future, so the chances of some random bullshit being thrown our way are very low for now.

‘Incoming lighting strike.’

‘On it.’

I focused on Jin Tianrui and imagined protecting him from any harm while cycling my Qi within my body.

As I expected, the Lighting that was about to strike him veered off to the side due to a sudden change in the surrounding atmosphere that attracted the bolt away from its intended target.

‘Whether this new power has some serious implications or not, I cannot deny that it is very, very, useful for us.’

‘True. With this, your disciple, Da Ling, and the rest of the village folk never have to worry about a tribulation ever again. I bet those people in high places would go green with envy if they ever learn about this.’

‘Which they never will if I have anything to say about it. We already have pretty big targets painted on our backs. We don’t need any more reasons to get involved with such bit shots.’

‘That is true. While Karma can help you a lot when trying to go past the Void Refinement realm, it could also serve as a hindrance if you accumulate enough bad Karma. It was why I was stuck in the Void Refinement realm for so long. So, it is better not to get involved with people who might turn into shackles on your path of cultivation.’

I silently nodded at his words since they were the truth.

Until the Void Refinement realm, the progress of a cultivator depends purely on their talent and efforts. But, after that, the progress of a cultivator depends on two things.

The comprehension of their Dao and their accumulated Karma, or the lack of said Karma.

Once a cultivator reaches the peak of the Void Refinement realm, they must have attained a complete understanding of themselves and their path in the Dao, which is essential for them to advance the essence of their very souls, taking the first step into becoming truly immortal.

However, the thing that is out of their control is the Karma that said cultivator has accumulated in their lives up to that point.

A cultivator that aspires to break through the shackles of the Void Refinement realm and reach the Dao Integration realm must either have positive accumulated Karma which is gained through living a ‘righteous’ life or have little to no Karma at all, which can be achieved through cutting off contact with the outside world and spending their entire lives as hermits.

It is because of this limitation that there has been no Dao Integration realm cultivator on this continent for the past few centuries. It is also because of this rule that Huxing Xiang was unable to break through to this realm in his timeline.

The amount of bad Karma he had accumulated was so staggering that he was directly blasted into the ground by a powerful tribulation the moment he tried to forcefully break through.

It was only thanks to his various abilities that he was not obliterated outright.

We watched silently as the Heavens continued to lash out at my disciple for an hour straight until Jin Tianrui finally succeeded in absorbing the two treasures into himself.

Just based on my super senses, I can already tell that his spirit roots have gone through one hell of a transformation, allowing him to directly ascent to the initial stages of the Core Formation realm.

With his ascension, the clouds and lighting started to dissipate, allowing me to finally relax.

“Congratulations, my disciple. You have made me proud.”

“…Master, stop trying to act like those cultivators from the sects, it does not suit you one bit.”

I grinned at his words before ruffling his head, much to his chagrin.

While, in his eyes, I am only a few years older than him, the truth is that my real age is a mystery to me at this point thanks to the jumbled mess of memories in my mind which made me act like an old man from time to time.

“Fine, you did good, Tianrui.”

He looked happy but there was also some guilt in his eyes.

“I wouldn’t have been able to do any of this if it were not for you, master. So, I don’t deserve such praise.”

I gently knocked on his head before pulling him up.

“As a master, it is my job to give you the best resources I can possibly provide. However, your advancement on the path of cultivation depends solely on your own efforts.”

“If you are not willing to put in the effort, even the best resources in the world cannot help you advance. So, chin up, take the praise for what it is.”

While the guilt did not disappear completely, I am happy to see that he at least took my words to heart and nodded.

‘Maybe I should start working on his self-esteem issues more than his cultivation.’

‘I think the same. We should rectify it before he develops insecurities and takes it out of others.’

‘Hmm.’

With my disciple, I headed back towards the village, already forming plans to help my disciple with his issues.
