I only wish there were many more witnesses to see what has just happened here. They may call him a heretic monster, but it's clear you can't deny what Aegon has the ability to do. He is a walking deterrent, he could even say if he was a true monster he would have simply sunk the islands. At this point he has the juice to do so. P.S. In Stargate Universe terms, how close would you say Aegon is to ascension?

This TL has them still having a shaky grip on power but they at least have dragons

Eh, the deal with the Lannister kind of serves an interim need to be honest. Elamaerys does have iron but it doesn't have the people. But with the population explosion that is happening, that will continue to happen, it will be a problem that hopefully resolves itself in the next fifty years. Aegon thinks in decades, something that Castorys and the rest of the family will propogate.

2025-04-30 18:59:42 +0000 UTCAlways a delight to see your comment. 1) Re Castorys: He has had a good real time education with his father, who, whilst hasn't really needed his charm, knows how to speak to people. Plus, it helps that Castorys has a good head on his shoulders. Re showing magic by Castorys...it's quite hard to be honest. You don't want to frighten potential business partners - which is what Elamaerys desire the most from the Lannisters as getting their gold reserves is seriously beyond what Elamaerys can handle given what they already have! - nor do you want to give away more than necessary. Rumours of abilities serve far better than a visible show of the abilities, as there is doubt, and where there is doubt, there is an advantage. Plus, it also sends a bad signal, a threatening one. 2) Convincing Baelon of the plan will be an odd thing to be honest. Baelon surviving is probably the best thing that could have happened to House Targaryen, more so than their dragons surviving. It allows them to have weight and to punish those who have been disloyal and treasonous. The Ironborn nobles being destroyed will be honestly an advantage for House Targaryen, and Aegon will press on Baelon on that point. Saying that the Kingdoms only hold a superficial loyalty to House Targaryen, who do not have the multi century loyalty that other houses have of their Kingdoms, and that this is the right moment to make sure loyalties are shored up for House Targaryen (ignoring what happens with the COTF and their desires for House Targaryen). But Baelon will be pissed that it is coming from Aegon, and pissed that he will put into a difficult position. Pride is dangerous after all. 3) Aegon's reading of Garin the Great was something I felt needed to be added without seeming too out of place. It, along with the Starry Sept opens up new ideas of how to use 'magic' for the good of his people. As we're getting to the end, I want to show you guys how Aegon gets to that final point. 4) Is it odd to say that Aegon is actually holding back a fair bit? Honestly, I would class him as a city destroyer at this point. 5) Aegon's godlike status is a curse as well as it is a blessing. The only thing he can do now is to make sure that his teachings and his kindness to his family sticks so that they know him and that he loves them, something that he will hope will be made sure to be known to every targaryen descending from him. 6) This story, or at least the magic is inspired by 40K (even if I only know some of the story...!) so not surprising that it reminds you of 40K. 7) Wouldn't surprise me haha. But yeah, Dragons are, and likely always be, a symbol of House Targaryen, those descendant from Aegon the First (plus plus plus whatever other epithet lmao). 8) To be honest, it will probably also be filtered through to the kids too...that their dragons are not needed but a companion. The kids already believe this anyway and it wouldn't surprise me if this is a Elameari Targ trait, where they always see their dragons as their companions (like that How to Train your Dragon story!)

2025-04-30 18:58:23 +0000 UTCGood chapter as always. Well worth the wait. It looks like Solonys managed to get some action and show off a bit of his fire magic abilities against the Ironborn. Its always nice to see other Targaryens besides Aegon using magic for battle. Its looks like the Lannister women or those married to Lannisters, regardless of who they are, cannot seem to resist the Targaryen charm. I was actually hoping that Castory would use some of his magic to demonstrate that Casterly Rock is nothing before the power of Targaryen Dragonlords and that even had Castory entered Casterly Rock, Johanna would not have been able to hold him for long. It looks like Aegon has a rough plan of what he intends to do with the Iron Islands, though I am curious to see how Aegon will convince Baelon to give the Celtigars the Iron Islands. I am curious if Aegon will arrange for the Velaryons to get the Isle of Tarth or if he can get the Velaryons another greater lordship, especially as it seems that Aegon will be helping Lys behind the scenes to take over Tyrosh. I have to see, I enjoyed reading Aegon's views on the fall of the Rhyonar as well as the idea of the Valyrian Dragonlords plans to steal the abilities of the royal Rhyonar houses. That implies that House Targaryen can gain the characteristics of other magical bloodlines, like maybe gain the Naathi control over the winds. Plus, his suspicions regarding the curse of Garin the Great, though it remains to be seens if Aegon's suspicions were correct or just him being overly paranoid but I suppose Aegon is the sort to check every posibilities especially if there is curse that might affect the Targaryen Bloodline. It was also great to see Aegon walk onto the battlefield and completely smash aside all his would be attackers with him magic and just steamrolling through all his enemies. I really shows how much more powerful Aegon has become since the start of this story as he has grown tremendously in power. Its no wonder all his soldiers and people follow him and believe in him so fanatically. And Aegon for all that he seemed to wish that was not the case in the past, he is not helping his case with how godlike he has become and continues to be. Especially after this latest battle where he single handedly defeated a Chutulu monster without the help of Missargon. I have to say the way Aegon destroyed the Seastone chair by literally consuming the demon, I am seeing the parallel between Aegon and the Emperor of Mankind how he consumed the warp and turned in against the chaos forces. I absolutely loved how Aegon one-on-one against the Chutulu kraken by himself is going to do nothing but enhance his reputation further. I am starting to wonder if the Elamari people will soon start thinking that the Targaryens do not really need their dragons and that the dragons are just for show, though I think that the dragon are an important part of the Targaryen power. I look forward to seeing how Aegon's meeting with Baelon will go, I am hoping that Aegon will arrive with all his and his children magical powers on display. So as to hammer into Baelon that he really has no power in these negotioations and that Baelon needs Aegon while Aegon has no need of Baelon, not really. Looking forward to the next chapter. Aegon really isn't beating the prophet/chosen one allegations after one again defeating a demon sealed in black stone and then 1v1 a kaiju.

Iron turds were handled how they deserved it but I am doubtful how this deal b/w lanni and elami will be in future 1 or 2 gen down the line. I liked the castorys has his charm stat boosted through the roof. I still am not sure Abt killing of kraken felt too easy and too unnecessary . But loved the chap as a whole, keep pumping chaps out , and your kids will be released on unspecified location once the story ends

I really enjoy what was going on with the lannisters. Why rule something yourself directly. When you can get the benefits of it, allies, and trade by giving it to someone else? It’s great! All the time people tell me ‘just conquer everything’ yea that works in games. But irl. It’s so much easier to just delegate. This will also integrate the Lannister’s with Targaryen interests, which would hopefully rub off that one future issue. Also. Good riddance to irontards. Really looking forward to the meeting but like always, it is fucking great mate.
