Everyone...please see the next chap. Apologies about the delay (as always).

Let me know what you think.

(I'm going to sleep now)

LAST EDIT - SORRY, I FORGOT TO SAY:

HAPPY HOLIDAYS/MERRY CHRISTMAS/HAPPY HANNUKAH/MAY THE SPAGHETTI MONSTER SHINE ON YOUR MERRY SOULS.

Comments

Two are dead but they have gotten Vermithor on their side. I Cannot see how this could work for the greens. A greens without Vhaegar are out of luck there is not fight to be had. Unless Baelon is assassinated the greens are Roast.

dbz evo

This makes little sense the are these guys suicidal that's Vermithor Silverwing the vale lords that are supporting the greens are Mad. If this ends in anything less than the burning of Oldtown and Gulltown.

dbz evo

Basically a Targaryen version of Zuko with the attitude of Jaime Lannister got it.

Real_Proster

He's pretty good. Probably a bit ahead of where Castorys was at his age. I would probably say that he's got the most natural talent and with the training he undergoes from so many warriors who are experts in their own styles...he'd probably become quite as good as the best swordsmen in the Targ Line.

Mosef

RE pop - you should read CH42 again. It is explained there.

Mosef

Over 140,000 now, perhaps? Give or take, a few thousand more or less. I believe that the Author should lay out a population census per decade similar to what US does. Westerosi Peasants mostly likely can’t get out, unless they have the money and knowledge on where to get to the ships. Only like Merchants and those with enough money will possibly able to escape. And with nobles, Aegon would most likely barred many from entering his land due to his preference to a certain type of people. And Viserys has many things on his plate, he might’ve heard of it, but possibly don’t have much to deal with it as he’s pretty busy and getting more Ill.

Don Dieta

What is the current population of Elamareys? Are there migrants from Westeros or only from Essos? I can see lot of serfs leaving to find new life in a new country if good publicity is done. That’s how the American Dream attracted migrants from Europe . I don’t see much reaction from Viserys about magic but both the factions will be alarmed by the power of the branch family. In my opinion both factions are screwed up, Rhaenyra is extremely entitled and the Green faction is more Hightower than Targ. Does Baleon hate the MC or something else? I can’t wait to see both factions try to convince Viserys to take action against Aegon. The MC can curb stomp them.

TyrantGod

Question, how good is Solonys as a Fighter? His Attitude kinda reminds me of Jaime Lannister.

Real_Proster

Never will complain about a long review (good or critical) so it's always great to see your essay reviews! :) 1) Yes, the version of the Faith is heretical in their eyes. It should be viewed in the same vein as lutherism and protestantism forming and initiating christian wars of religion in Europe. And the key thing is...Aegon knows this story...and how to deal with it. It becoming known now is perfect, just as it is perfect that he will know who would become major problems. 2) Otto Hightower is still alive because his usefulness as a lightning rod is exceptional. Whilst Aegon wanted to get rid of him for two reasons (to see if he can outplay the Old Gods and the weakening of the Greens part) he also realises that dealing with Otto Hightower, even if he could get away with it, would have consequences, if he was successful, that makes things more difficult to predict in the long run. Plus, he also runs the risk of falling to the trap of self fulfilling prophecy, where the very thing (survival of dragons and minimal loss of Targ lives) he wants to ensure, might actually be jeopardised because of his interference. This also plays a role in his decision to pause on the whole affair. 3) Yes, Aegon did tell Corlys and Rhaenys. He had to, if not for practical reasons but certainly because of his care for them and Laena. He hasn't given that warning to the Celtigars but he has told them that the Maester could not be trusted with secrets given that they are backing Rhaenyra, who is an enemy of the very lord they learnt their craft from. So the maester is ignorant of the dragonglass candle, amongst other things. 4) The Hightowers are aware they are losing time. Viserys is progressively getting worse. They can't sit idle anymore and play cautiously. 5) Rhaenyra is smarter in this fic...thanks to Baelon and Rhea who of course are invested in making sure she is smarter. Plus, as you say, Daemon's death has made things very real to her...and the danger she and her children are in. There will be no hesitation from her side just as there won't be from the Greens once things get worse. 6) Silverwing, Dreamfyre, Meleys, they have all lain eggs over the past...ten, fifteen years. Enough for a dozen more Targs. The Green children, barring Aegon and Aemond, have had hatchlings...same as two of Rhaenyra's brood. 7) Baelon and Rhaenyra's kids will get a mention next chap. 8) They don't. Neither of them. At least not really. They don't believe magic like how Aegon is using can really exist. The maesters do not have such references, and all references they have are exceptionally dark and cruel but also still limited. No curtain of fire or surviving through dragon flame. To them, it is an exaggeration made to frighten enemies. They do however recognise the dragons are a major threat but in their minds...they will have dragons soon of their own. 9) The spies in Oldtown have been massively expanded over the years. There will be some discussions about soon ish. No comment on the Hightowers fate...lol. 10) Wallace is MVP. I like Wallace. Honest working class man doing his thing. It is a microcosm of what Aegon is trying to do for everyone and their families. 11) Aegon has given enough incentives to avoid very unhappy nobles amongst himself. He had to do it. The nobility needs to be an estate of their own (Targs, nobles, the majority) so that there's also checks and balances coming from them instead of just the majority of people. Of course, that is not the entire reason why Aegon persists with nobility, which is largely to persevere with noble bloodlines with echos of dragonlord blood just in case they need it and also because of their usefulness as supporters of the system, but yeah...the nobility are given enough to be happy...whilst also never becoming a threat to his descendants or to the people of Elamaerys, who will be amongst the vast majority of the army and in key positions, appointed by the Targs. 12) The situation in Essos is a fucked up one...lol. Really, Aegon has upended the entire political situation there. There are factions who are allied who then betray their allies and team up with their enemies. There are city states that are slowly being devoured by others, causing immense resentment and brewing notions of war...yes, its a shitshow...and it will only get worse before it gets better. 13) I agree re victims. They are in a shit situation and they can't escape it...not without having some kind of extraordinary willpower to say fuck it...i'm done and i'm going. Unfortunately, that isn't going to happen. It rarely ever happens in RL, which is modern and where people have so much options...in medieval times...we'll see what happens with regards to how things develop, how Aegon II develops with the short but immensely impactful time he had with his uncle who showed him something he'd never had and misses. Someone who cares for him just as he is. 14) Regarding cement - This was mostly modern cement for concrete. Aegon doesn't know roman cement but he did experiment a little to cobble up a way to make cement and concrete based on available resources. Which does happen to resemble modern cement and concrete.

Mosef

How does his version of the faith of the seven works? Is it a combination of Anglicanism, Eastern Orthodoxy, LOTR creation myth influencing the faith? Along with a tolerance of magic to a certain degree. Is like passages and scriptures from the bible are added to the seven pointed stars? I think The book of Solomon, Proverbs, and 1st and 2nd Timothy, and 1st Peter should be added in order for the populace to have better morals, but you do you.

Don Dieta

He's not getting involved in the civil war, correct. He hasn't told his children yet about his previous life. However, there will be something he tells them eventually. He would only ever tell Gael the full truth, if he ever does. Yes, Elamaerys does have an intelligence service though it still needs to be refined. Uthrik basically spearheads presently. I can give something about the government structure. Let me see when I can do that as whilst I've got notes, it is pretty unrefined. (I have basically also a full list of notable individuals in thier positions in excel...lol).

Mosef

Good chapter as always. The scene between Otto Hightower and his brother Hobert was well done. It also helps paint a picture of what is going on in Westeros and what the Hightowers are doing behind the scenes. It looks like Aegon's and Elamaerys' version of the Faith has greatly offended a great many people in Westeros. I'm guessing that the reason Otto Hightower is still alive is because Aegon has thought up an alternate strategy of dealing with him and that given the state of things he will need to get rid of the entire House Hightower when the time comes not just Otto. It also looks like Aegon has made known his suspicions to Corlys and Rhaenys about the Maesters and their acolytes having loyalties to Oldtown and the Hightowers and that they might be a danger to Velaryon family. I'm guessing that Aegon has managed to gather enough prove given that Rhaenys and Corlys have expeled all the acolytes and have not asked for a new Maester. I am curious if Aegon has given similar warnings to House Celtigar and Sunglass as well. It also looks like the Hightowers might be planning something drastic in order to get Vhagar for themselves. I am curious to see if Aemond will get Vhagar in this story, though Laena would have to die for that to happen. Hopefully, Rhaenys and Corlys will remain on high alert for any dangers. It also looks like Rhaenyra in this story keeping an eye of things rather than just sequestering herself at Dragonstone and expecting that she will inherit the Crown without a fight. I'm guessing that that is Rhea's influence and the manner of Daemon's death must have shocked that realization into her. I'm guessing that Caraxes also still remains unbonded to a new rider at the moment. If the bond between a dragon goes both ways, I doubt that Caraxes would be willing to bond with any of Alicent's children given that Caraxes would have known that Daemon hated everything to do with the Hightowers. Chances are he would bond with a child of Baelon and Rhaenyra which would be fitting. How many dragons are they in Westeros as of this moment, has Silverwing of Dreamfyre laid any clutches that have hatched for Alicent and Rhaenyra's children? Speaking on the matter, how may children to Baelon and Rhaenyra have as of this moment. Rhea made it clear to Rhaenyra that she needs how have heirs if she wants to ascend the throne. I'm guessing that the Hightowers and the Faith really have no idea what they will be up against should they decide to make war with Aegon and Elamaerys, after all we are talking about of a family with 8 Dragonlords and more to come given that Aegon's eldest children have all just gotten married recently and Aegon branch of House Targaryen knows how to hatch dragon eggs. Not to mention that Aegon's family are magic weilding Dragonlords not just simple dragonriders. That is not even taking into account the logictical nightmare it would be to get a Westerosi army to Elamaerys and have them be battle ready. Good thing we know that Aegon has alread thought ahead in regards to all this and has sent spies to Oldtown. I am hoping that Aegon's solution to this will result in the annihiliation of the entire Hightowers family. After all, Aegon is the type to make sure that his enemies never return to haunt his descendants if he can help it. And given Vaegon's vision I'm guessing that both the Hightowers and The Faith are going to be in for a very rude awakening. Aegon will be more than happy to do what Maegor should have done. The second scene was well done as well, its good to see the p.o.v. of an everyday citizen of Elamaerys and how Aegon has done his best to ensure that his people live a good life and with the means to povide for themselves as well as how he has increased the literacy of Elamaerys. The third scene for Valerion Velaryon's p.o.v. as also very good and iluminating. I'm guessing that Valerion had certain expectations when he was told that he was going to be made a noble in Elamaerys but the reality of it was much different than what he received. Aegon has made sure that the nobility of Elamaerys will never be able to challenge the Archon or the Royal Family militarily or in terms of wealth. They will never have any leverage over House Targaryen. Still it looks like Valerion and many of the "old nobility" as he put it, are very happy with their lot in life even if they fiefless lords, after all their prestige, wealth and position is mostly secure and they will only grow richer as time progresses and they have more incfluence in the halls of power in Elamaerys than they would ever have in Westeros. It also looks like Valerion, and possibly many of the nobles in Elamaerys, already sees the writings on the wall. Elamaerys is going to be the second coming of Valyria without the taint of slavery, especially given the fact that Valerion has scene Aegon and his children's feats with magic and has some knowledge of what they are capable of. Nothing that Darklyn could offer Valerion could ever equal what Valerion stands to gain in Elamaerys. There is a good chance that his granddaughters or great granddaughters will marry into House Targaryen. Plus, there is also as Valerion says his pride of being a Velaryon, a descendant of a noble House from Old Valyria. Plus, even if Westeros does make war on Elamaerys, as Valentine has noted, the people of Elamaerys are all being instilled with martial culture and discipline for a young age. Aegon is making sure that every citizen of Elamaerys can be called up to bear arm should it come to war. I also noted from Valerion's conversation with Malentine, it looks like the situation in Essos is a shit show of epic proportions. I lok forward to seeing if you will elaborate on the state of Essos in future chapters. I also enjoyed Castorys p.o.v. immensely. Its always nice to see things from his perspective given that he is Aegon's heir and next in line to be Archon. It was good to see that he has progressed well in terms of combat and battle experience given his "tour duty", though he still obviously has much more to learn and grow especially as Aegon will no doubt be opening his "third eye" soon. I love how the Targaryens are now basically Firebenders with magic. I also like how you eluded to Aegon's own powers through Castory's eyes. I'm also curious as to why Aegon wanted Bartimos and Eldric to see his and Castory's ability to basically Firebend and use magic. Though I am guessing part of it is because he wants word of this to get back to Viserys and the rest of Westeros as a means to make them unwilling to make war against Elamaerys and to make it clear that Aegon and his branch of House Targaryen are true Dragonlords not just dragon riders. I also liked the insight into Castorys thoughts and his ambitions for the future and how he plans to continue Aegon's work and make sure that his children and descendants continue it as well. The last scene with Aegon II as also well done. I'm glad that we finally got to know what Aegon told Aegon II before he left. Family is important to Aegon so it is no surprise that he made that offer to Aegon II. I also get the feeling that the whore Aegon II was with might be linked to some of Aegon's spies and agents in King's Landing, perhaps as planting the seeds of an idea in Aegon II's mind that there might be another option available to him. In all honesty, I cannot bring myself to see Aegon II, Helena, Aemond, Jaehaerys and any other children Alicent might have with Viserys as villians. Yes they became antagonis but they are bascially products and victims of their mother and House Hightower's ambitions as well as Visery's neglect and indifference. I mean if Viserys was going to keep Rhaenyra as heir then why remarry and have children with another woman, especially when he shoud know that if he has any sons they will challenge Rhaenyra's claim to the throne and that said wife's family would want Visery's son by Alicent to succeed him. Especially, since by Hobert Hightower's own admission, Alicent and Otto are raising those children to be Hightower puppets. A part of me really hopes that Aegon II will somewhere down the line refuse to be a puppet to his mother and Hightower relatives and break free of their hold given the psychological damage that they have done to him. I really hope that some where down the line Aegon II will say fuck it, and take Helena and his children and leave Westeros for Elamaerys. What are the chances that Aegon could, through his many agents, send someone to covertly help and tutor Aegon II and make him more aware of his own worth. After all if the dragon knows his won strength, no man can control him. Once again, great chapter. I cannot wait till the next chapter is posted. Sorry if the review is very long. p.s.: I have been rereading this story quite a few time and I wanted to ask this liquid stone a.k.a. cement that Aegon and his people created, is it Roman cement or modern cement and how did they manage to keep making it in great bulks? I am not very well versed in how cement is made.

Sukhraj Singh

Just for clarification, Aegon (MC) are not going to be involved in the civil war right. Has he told his sons about his previous life or the modern world on earth so that they would have a vision of what to strive for. Does Elamaerys have an intelligence agency like CIA, Mossad, MI6 etc? Can you also list out the government structure and the names, positions of the country? You gave it in your previous chapters but having a list format is easier to reference.

TyrantGod

Merry Christmas and thanks for the chapter! I was really expectinging a chapter on the 24th but this is also welcome!

Master Zen

Would you also be able to post all dragon riders and their dragons? Or a least the ones that have different dragons then cannon?

evilperson41

In the end it depends on how the civil war / dance will go once visery passes. If we follow the OG timeline then hightowers dream for conquest will never happen, simply because a majority of them and all the dragons die in Westeros. However, in this timeline the greens are in a much stronger position, since two important black team members have already died before the dance. Just based on what’s happening right now, the greens will likely stream roll the blacks.

evilperson41

1) Darklyn's attempt - you can consider that to be a microcosm of the kinds of shenanigans that will continue to happen once more of Aegon's ideas become mature. ;) 2) Yes. Westeros will be significantly differently culturally than Elamaerys. It would not be a lie to say that Lys will much more of a cultural sibling than Westeros. A bit like France and Quebec. Although probably a lot friendlier towards each other. Lol. 3) Yes, the holy war def needs Targ dragons. Interestingly, the death of dragons probably isn't something the Hightowers would want...not if there were dragons in Elamaerys. 4) Yup, Essos is a bit of a shitshow but it will probably get worse. The problem is, when you get invested (like Braavos are with Myr and Tyrosh and to an extent with Pentos), it is hard to call it quits until you have lost far more. And consequently, this will add in more instability. And Volantis is just another story...a true coocoo madhouse. 5) Let's just say that pragmatism (and time to think) has once more convinced Aegon of another strategy.

Mosef

Exactly the reason why I added them. Up the little man! Seriously though, Aegon would see that and be more proud of that than any personal victory he made. It shows that slowly, slowly, his dream of a modern society that allows for a cohesive society and upward mobility, is taking root. Viva Wallace!

Mosef

Happy holiday like the hungry beast I am I devoured this chapter as soon I got home. I love the last part so much. We have two eldest sons being so different it is great writing 👍

Marco Belina

Even if they did figure out compass, gotten a map, and built more carracks as carracks already existed, it would still be a logistical nightmare as navies are expensive to build and maintain, people to train, and on top of that. Good luck passing through the deadly ocean that would make going there pretty difficult. So really, it wouldn’t be worth it to invade soon as they have things they have to focus on.

Don Dieta

But still, I hope they can discover something similar in other places they trade? If not, at least they would get garum, parsnips, rutabaga, and probably peppers to make a sauce. Still they should grow soy and coconuts for different utilities like candles or something else.

Don Dieta

So the primary language would be High Valyrian, but it would make sense that eventually would have its own dialect influenced by Lys and dragonstone vernacular, with a hint of Andal influence. Also the Andal language would probably learned from schools or educational institutions, as it would be a trading/business language.

Don Dieta

Will post something next chap

Mosef

I like the stories of the smallfolk in Elmaerys. It's nice to see the little guy doing work and providing for his family.

Real_Proster

How large are each of the MC family dragons? The MC’s dragon size at least ?

TyrantGod

I enjoyed Darklyn's attempts at stealing expertise in exchange for a peanut lordship. Down the line I feel Westeros will be so different from Elamaerys culturally and politically and the gap between them will never bridge. Good luck trying to rouse support for a holly war against a "heretic" who has dragons, fire magic and lives in a place you don't know how to get to. If the dance kills all Westeros dragons then that holy war pipe dream will die. Laenor is useless as ever but at least he is still in play. Essos is cooking nicely, they won't have time for Elamaerys in generations. Nice pre-emptive strike by Aegon. Shame he didn't off Otto but the idea of Aegon mini-me running away to Elamaerys is potentially a hilarious solution.

Rodney Chari

Not impossible but close to it yes. Lets just say hobert isn't the most clear thinking man. Otto isn't exactly for it to be clear.

Mosef

I know, but even then, attacking a full strength Elamaerys with Dragonlord magic and the most powerful fleet in the world would be impossible. That's not talking about the difficulties of using dragons in ocean warfare.

Yesman

No hunting regulations beyond that of live stock. The pelts are too valuable presently but Aegon will try to regulate it before his death

Mosef

Like the AI? I thought you made some on what they looked like?

Don Dieta

No. Haven't had a chance to try.

Mosef

And of course, the matter of attacking Elamaerys wont be as if it is presently. They believe they can overcome in time with their own dragons and entire army of westerosi.

Mosef

Do you have the appearances of Aegon’s family now?

Don Dieta

Theyre arrogant. Like madly arrogant to the point where nothing but their worldview makes sense. And in terms of dragons...they will have their own in their eyes soon enough.

Mosef

Otto is still alive because Aegon decided not to go through with the assassination. Ultimately he decided there was just too much value in him being alive (i.e. from an intelligence pov). Plus assassinating him when he wasn't sure wasn't good value either.

Mosef

Yes. The swords is really secondary. They fight in organised units (the unsullied training which also includes physical training)

Mosef

No new crops. Remember, it took thousands of years to cultivate them from wild. There haven't been humans really here.

Mosef

Happy holidays!

Mosef

*Hightowers looking at Aegon standing on a mountain of dead slavers* "Surely nothing could go wrong if we conspire against him?" Great chapter, love the Westerosi-Elamaeri plotting! Happy Holidays!

Yesman

And is there new world type crops they could discover? I can’t imagine them not having tomatoes, potatoes, and amongst other things. I hope they can grow soy and find coconuts.

Don Dieta

Do the citizens learn other weaponry other than swords, spears, and bows? It would be better if they learned various pole arms and other weaponry?

Don Dieta

How is Otto still alive? I thought MC planned his assassination? Did Aemond claim Caraxes? How is that Viserys is still such a dumbass even after getting trained by Jae and warnings from his brother?

TyrantGod

And also they probably speculate that they know their magic, but they don’t know to what extent and how much it is. Frankly, they are pretty skeptical about magic and they are kinda underestimating it a bit

Don Dieta

Does Aegon have a plan for recycling program or policy? How about conservations and hunting regulation?

Don Dieta

Like I said I agree but one can hopefully of them meeting or at least in the future visiting before the dance.

Dragonslayer29

I don’t really see them seeing each other because of distance and there really is no reason for them to visit their wayward relatives. Though that doesn’t stop the survivors of the mainline that was defeated to be given amnesty and protection if they fled to Elaemerys.

Skruffy

This is with them not knowing the extent of the Magic Aegon's family weilds and the knowledge of aegon's weapons, inventions and army organization/trainimg

Torrent

I honestly don't get what the Hightower are smoking. How do they possibly think they can take over Elamaerys? Aegons family has 8 dragons, possibly will have more in the future. Not to mention the exhaustion their troops will face by the time they even reach Elamaerys. That is if they can even find it. It's not even a feasible plan.

Torrent

I agree her fate was such a tragic one

Dragonslayer29

I know but I am really want to see how his kids interact with both greens and blacks since they been sheltered away from the politics of Westeros.

Dragonslayer29

He really can’t attend the funeral since traveling takes I think several moons(months). It would be great if Mini Aegon does flee to Elaemerys.

Skruffy

Second this with Helaena, I hope she can meet the MC’s branch of Targaryen again. I also hope she can survive and maybe live if her dragon dreams helped her survive.

Don Dieta

I hope the two aegons meet, thanks for the update

Hadsan Ali

First of all thanks for the chap as it is always nice to see this story update. As well as I hope you have a merry Christmas. Now onto the chapter I’m very curious how Aegon is going deal with the Hightower’s because they will not leave well enough alone especially with more rumors about magic in Elemanys. They will try to use the faith to attack Aegon and claim his lands as the are greedier than Lannister’s and Freys. I feel like they will try to send assassins to attack his family as well. Which makes me think of how he’s gonna respond to this attack cause if he attacks faith, it will push the south of Westeros against him. Which would be worst when Viserys dies the future generations of Targaryens in Westeros will trouble his future descendants. I do hope this happens but given how long it takes to fly to Westeros it probably won’t is that I hope he goes to the funeral for Laena child. It be great if he brings the his eldest children as I been dying to see how Aegon sons and daughters interact with their cousins cause it seems like Aegon the younger is like a canon version. Which makes me wonder how Helena and Aemond are going to be like as well as Viserys and Alicent OC children. Keep up the great work.

Dragonslayer29

I hope the MC has away to deal with the hightowers on the aftermath of the dance?

Don Dieta

Good night man

Sleep well, happy holidays

No worries and good night
