2024-09-11 10:50:32 +0000 UTC1) Re groundwork - Yes, he is trying to get more pure Valyrian blood as he can whilst also ensuring that there is 'legitimacy' to the Houses uplifted to nobility. 2) The meeting between Viserys and Aegon in the throne room felt weak to me (especially the Daemon scene but I just couldn't not see Daemon not make a reaction as he for one doesn't respect Viserys enough and definitely dislikes Aegon enough) but it conveys enough what I saw play out, kind of, as not only shows Daemon and Viserys in their state of mind but also shows the consequence of what the rest of realm might be thinking and are seeing regarding the House of the Dragon. 3) Viserys and Aegon are doing their best to mend fences but obviously they have vastly different expectations of that means (ironically both of them are rather the same about not really meaning it but only do so out of pragmatism/duty). Yes, he's got his religious hat on for pretty much 100% during his stay at Westeros, not just for showing it to Alicent but rather to everyone (the threat of heresy is as bad as Viserys now that he's in Westeros) but of course, he's channelling that good pious dude energy to Alicent quite a bit. Aemond is the goal, yes, but he's learning getting the match in the way he wants (basically taking Aemond and never giving him back) is going to take Daniel Day Lewis level of acting and crazy, crazy level of charm and persuasion. It'll be a challenge, for sure. 4) Rhaenyra and Baelon will come up! Although can't focus too much on it (not as much as I would like) especially at this stage. Too much story to cover, and can't go into much into their POVs. 6) Re reality check...Aegon will be checking his risk vs. reward chart. What do I gain, or what do I achieve by giving her this check? Another thing you have to take into consideration is that Aegon really can't say shit about him being a dreamer to these members of his family. Some might argue it would be better now than later but you know that it's going to get his family members killed even if the rest of the realm is spared. Ultimately, Aegon will have to decide on many things. 7) Yes...Aegon sees for what Viserys is and how much of a problem he is. Unfortunately, even he was to return back in time...Aegon wouldn't have changed a thing. Viserys unfortunately was the right choice. No matter how bad he is as King.

2024-09-10 17:22:53 +0000 UTCGreat chapter as always. It looks like Aegon is trying to aly the groundwork to ensure that he can get as much pure Valyrian blood as he can to Elamaerys. The question remains is if can get the Velaryon onboard for whatever he has planned, though I doubt he will share with them his full plans after all Aegon is the kind of man who keeps most of his secrets close to his chest. Gael is perhaps the only person who knows most if not all of his secrets. The meeting between Aegon andd Viserys was a tense one especially in the throne room where Daemon no doubt tried to cause an incident. Good thing Viserys put a stop to it as it could have gotten ugly if Daemon was allowed to escalate it, though it would not have ended well for Daemon. At least Viserys and Aegon are doing their best to mend things between them and it looks like Aegon is taking the initiative in his goal to secure a match between Aemond and Rhaena by doing what he can to win Alicent over to his side. I look forward to seeing what Aegon's interactions will be like with Rhaenyra and Baelon, since they did not seem to interested in interacting with him when he had arrived. I suspect that Daemon might have had a hand in that but if Rhaenyra, Baelon or Daemon believe that they can ever force their will upon Aegon or bully him into submission they will all be in for a very rude awakening. I am curious if Aegon will be putting Daemon in his place while he is in Westeros, whether it is privately or publicly, though doing it puclicly will be immensely more entertaining and humiliating for Daemon, as I suspect that Aegon will wipe the floor with him. I also wonder if Aegon will be the one to give Rhaenyra the reality check that she most definitely needs. I know Aegon might feels compelled to do what he can to maybe help prevent the Dance of the Dragons from happening in Westeros but chances are that there is nothing he can do. Viserys's willingnes to turn a blind eye to things and ignoring the conflict that is happening right in front him as well as his believe that his commands will be followed after he is dead and gone, makes it impossible for Aegon to really do anything. Aegon will no doubt see that all he can do is get what he wants from Westeros and wait till the dust settles and help the victor of the Dance of the Dragons. The only real winner I find in the Dance of the Dragons is Viserys, he got peace for his entire lifetime, his family catered to his every whim allowing him the illusion of peace that no one besides him really believed in. Looking forward to the next chapter.

We already have seen the Pov from his older sons. I want to see how aegons only true born daughter Rhaena feels. How Briennei feels truly abt her adopted family and Finally how Solonys feels being the youngest of his family, living in the shadows of not only his father but fairly formidable older brothers too

Viserys won't listen, Daemon would just be a terrible choice to tell anything meaningful too and Rhaenyra...she's a kid who is due some reality check. It's kind of why Aegon is focusing a bit on Alicent...if she's any better or if she's just like the rest them, just under a mask of piousness. He doesn't really have too many options to do anything. Not really. He's honestly an outsider, not that's ever been anything else. The other way is the Velaryons and he's not sure they'll use what he knows either for the betterment for both families...or just themselves. Although he's already working on something for them...in any case Aegon hasn't quite washed off his hands of the matter but he's already concluded it might just be better to help whomever is left standing...

He should just keep his family neutral and away from all the crazy crap.especially with how clearly the dance is going to happen or something similar to it. Loved the interaction between Daemon and Aegon I literally thought that he was going to draw his sword and say let’s have a spar for old times sake. Keep up the great work and cant wait to see what happens next.

I need to read more and there is nought for me to read. I liked this piece mate, but it feels as if you are half way through a day and suddenly it’s over. It’s not a cliffhanger, it’s just a crater in a beautiful meadow, where is the rest of the meadow my guy. Otherwise I loved it. Don’t think of that as a serious critique. Thanks for the chap chapp.
