CH27 - Tartered Dragon
Added 2024-05-31 22:20:27 +0000 UTCHello Everyone, please see the next chapter!
I know, I know...I cut it close! But here I am and here it is!
(FYI - I was meant to add the Small Council scene but that is still only half written and I haven't been able to fit in today if I were to keep my promise for once - sorry, it'll be in the next chap!)
In any case, please enjoy the chap and like always, please let me know what you think. I appreciate them a lot.
EDIT (01/06/2024): ADDED SMALL COUNCIL SCENE.
Comments
I know it is late, but really you should do make a Dany Omake, even if it would not be canon.

2024-12-08 02:42:53 +0000 UTCAlmost as large as Caraxes but much wider.

2024-06-16 17:25:59 +0000 UTCToo much of a spoiler!
Mosef
2024-06-16 17:24:12 +0000 UTCNo, not that big yet. (Only Vhaghar is bigger). But he isn't far off...about the size of Caraxes but wider than Caraxes is a thin boyo.

2024-06-09 00:28:30 +0000 UTCThe thing with Viserys is that everything for him has always been handled to him on a silver platter. Never once did he have to work at something to achieve it. He has always had people around him to do everything for him. Compared to Jaehaerys who inherited a broken realm in which he had to fix, deal with his regents, war disease and etc. Viserys was given a peaceful 7 kingdoms and has never experienced hardships the way his predecessor did. I am also in the mind that Baelon spoiled him, never disciplined him never taught him in the ways of politics, and probably viewed him as a child who can do no wrong. I mean even in the earlier chapter when Aegon told Baelon and Jaehaerys that Viserys was fallible to the point where it was dangerous, Baelon got upset at Aegon. Viserys wants to be great like Jaehaerys but the thing is he doesn’t work at it, if the Triarchy did what they did during Jaehaerys rule he would came down on them hard. I also think Viserys believes that as long as he doesn’t go to war and has a peaceful kingdom he will be great like his grandfather (Also he is always thinking of the prophecy). But now that he is hearing the whispers that both Daemon and Aegon are admired feared and that their legacy will last He feels like he is in their shadow and is getting jealous and probably doesn’t understand just being King doesn’t just make you great. I’m sure he views that if he’s king everyone will follow everything he says. Sorry guys for this rant lol 😂

2024-06-02 18:56:05 +0000 UTCIf Viserys put half the passion into running the realm competently that he does into being outraged about his brothers, he would be living in a utopia.

2024-06-02 10:02:24 +0000 UTCI went back and forced myself to read it after you responded. My opinion actually went down when I was regretting the wife didn't get shanked. The importance is why I suggested rewriting from a different PoV. You're correct showing things are not such a clean break is a needed point to make. I Vehemently disagree with it needing to be a slave in the situation he was in. A more interesting perspective of the same thing would have been from one of the Unsullied, Rheagar himself possibly. As is, I just don't see the point of showing us how evil the Slavers were, how bitter and loathing the survivors of the slavers are, yet alone with a PoV/characters we won't be seeing again. It's like picking a random person out of a sporting event where thousands attend, saying "See, isn't that person interesting!?" No, they aren't. If you wanted to give a sense of... no "Oh well", but "two sides", the PoV as written does a poor job of such. If you can't redo it, I still think the story would be better served axing the beggining POV and doing something to show the... Complications of the Liberation in a later point.

2024-06-01 23:50:23 +0000 UTCPretty sure the golden company isn’t a thing yet cause the Blackfyres are yet to come.

2024-06-01 20:59:48 +0000 UTCI think Viserys denies him being able to do that because the difficulty, and "glory", of the feat will be greater than that of Aegon the Conqueror. He doesn't want to be upstaged by Aegon 2.0 (who people will come to consider The Greater Aegon). He doesn't even understand how much preparation went into this campaign. He's not aware of the administrators and bureacracy Aegon has trained up and installs in each former-slave city, everything they've studied, and deep infiltration missions. Of course he's also not aware Aegons military force is more disciplined and advanced than the Golden Company (what their world considers the best though I'm not sure that's a thing yet? well readers will understand). He just doesn't know and understand how much effort Aegon has put in. And the innovations. He also still seems to think Aegon went there to conquer. Why would he do that when he already has the "promised lands" he discovered in the West?

2024-06-01 20:38:14 +0000 UTCSo glad that you included the small council scene at the end of this chap. I was really looking forward to see the small council reaction and especially Visery‘s reaction and I have to say you didn’t disappoint on how I would figure they would act and question what’s going on. Also especially well done writing Viserys reaction and I have to say how can he have the gall and anger to both question and deny that Aegon can win his war. Im also looking forward to see how he responds once Aegon declares his Archonship. Also curious to see Daemons reaction as I know he probably be jealous as hell and angry that Aegon is basically one upping him again. Im a little nervous on how he will advise Viserys on what to do with Aegon because Viserys is blind by anger and jealousy towards Aegon. so I wouldn’t put it past to do something really stupid based on Daemons advice to appear strong.

2024-06-01 20:03:47 +0000 UTCWouldn't say ship's sinking...just rocking a bit. But yeah, the brothers are heading down a bad path.

2024-06-01 17:58:58 +0000 UTCThe rhllor bit is quite fun to write. It doesn't have too much details but enough to build around! For fanatics who can see shit through fire, of a war on their doorstep, they just had to be included. Glad you liked the slave pov, I found it important to show a glimpse of the effect Aegons actions have on the 'other' side...and the slaves who probably will never gain proper independence
Mosef
2024-06-01 17:58:05 +0000 UTCThe statues of liberty is def on the plan ;) though there won't be one in Elamaerys but there'll be something to commemorate their efforts against slavery (propaganda and nationalism whoooo!) I might make a Dany Omake lol but it'd be in jest.
Mosef
2024-06-01 17:55:00 +0000 UTCThe Slave POV was important. Gave context to the ghiscari and the more...brainwashed slaves. It's not a clean break. Nothing in life usually is.
Mosef
2024-06-01 17:52:11 +0000 UTCThe reactions will be fun to write when they truly understand what's happening (you should read the updated chap)! I think they'll be horrified by the extent through which Aegon reshapes and is reshaping Slaver's Bay. Everyone thinks Daemon will be pissed lmfao. His reaction will be fun to write.
Mosef
2024-06-01 17:50:39 +0000 UTCThe Small Council scene was fantastic and I'm glad you tagged it on! Viserys really is just going to sit on his ass while his ship sinks is he? And I feel like Daemon would try to fix the leak by striking it with Dark Sister.

2024-06-01 16:03:16 +0000 UTCThat was an excellent chapter. The perfect mix of world building, action, and some politics with the whole rhilor bit. I really liked the slaves pov. Sure it wasn’t “plot relevant” but it showed that not everyone is super gung-ho about having their freedom and killing all their former masters. Plenty of educated slaves in Rome and Greece were treated very well and lived comfortably. There’s a big difference between being legally a slave while living in part of a big mansion with servants/other slaves that feed you and take care of your stuff vs someone who does backbreaking labor in the fields or mines while being whipped randomly.

2024-06-01 15:51:03 +0000 UTCGood chapter! Man can’t wait for the reactions and how this will shift the balance of power in Essos and Westeros. I was going to say I think a cool idea will be once Aegon has left Liberty Bay. That the free cities there make a two statues similar to the Statue of Liberty one for Liberty bay and the other for Elamaerys similar to how France made 2 one for themselves and one for the US. I am actually very curious how a POV would be from Rhaenys perspective of everything going on with Aegon would be. I think out of all of the current Targaryens right now besides Gael and Aegon, that she is the most observant with a keen eye on people, their motives, and political agendas. It would be cool to see her thoughts on how everyone who thought her cousin was a slaver was actually wrong and now they are worried about retribution from him which will probably amuse her. Also can’t wait for the next chapter with the small council reaction and response. I think since this is gonna be a big event, I feel like Viserys will bring Daemon the Velaryons, and Otto back to help deal with this, since he most likely won’t know what to do. I’m not sure if you saw but one of my old comments was saying that it would be cool if Aegon and Gael have one more child a daughter Daenerys. And it’s the same Daenerys from GOT with her old memories. Lol imagine she is seeing that her dad here did what she did in the past but he did it the right way to end slavery. Thank you for this new chapter! Hope to see a new chapter soon! Thank you again!

2024-06-01 03:24:33 +0000 UTCYou know, if you hadn't written that part from a slaves PoV, that none of us know or really remember after reading the rest of the Chapter. One who isn't part of the Main Story, will have no impact... If not for that, you probably could have written the scenes people have been waiting near 2months for. Regardless, I'd recommend skipping it, or re-writing from someone else PoV there at the beginning of the story. I tried to read it, become agravvated at the pointlessness (In my eyes) to it, then skipped the majority of that section.

2024-06-01 01:31:44 +0000 UTCViserys will be horrified and Daemon will be jealous and angry. For Viserys it will be the political fallout due to the fact aegon hasn't declared independence and maybe the genocide. For Daemon it will hatred of his brother and the assumption that it was something he could do, which just will go to show how vastly overconfident he is. Because I think that he might not realize no one follows him out of love or anything like aegon but because their afraid and who his brother is ( I have a theory that Viserys being so weak led to daemons overconfidence).

2024-05-31 23:49:58 +0000 UTCThe bar gets raised every time, I wonder how Viserys and Daemon will react to Aegon out-doing them in every way imaginable.

2024-05-31 23:36:19 +0000 UTCGreat Chapter… Aegon is by now a legendary figure in both Essos and Westeros alike. I wonder how will Westeros react to the fact Aegon literally changed Geography (and committed good healthy ole genocide) just because of, what in their heads, is a slight lol. I can already imagine Daemon green with envy ( ironic ain’t it)
