I hope you enjoyed seeing the first part of our World War I series on YouTube. I just want to reiterate that it would simply not have been possible without your support, so for that a massive thank you.

There is a number of new members, so to all of you, welcome and thank you for your incredible generosity. You should already be able to watch 3 extra chapters of the Road to WWI series, with more to follow.

This week the chapter on the Balkan Wars will finally be uploaded here.

As it stands there will then be two more (quite long) chapters for the rest of Part 2. The first of these will be on armaments and war plans, looking at the arms race that developed between the Great Powers 1908-1914, and how their war plans for the upcoming conflict changed with it (why did Britain send an army to the continent when everybody imagined her support would be primarily naval? Why did Russia attack both Germany and Austria when they knew East Prussia was a nightmare to invade? etc. etc.)

The final chapter of Part 2 will look at the last years of peace, particularly things like the Anglo-German detente, the rise of domestic unrest in most nations, the hardening of Russo-German tensions etc.

Part 3 will then all be centred around the July Crisis.

Hopefully it should be a much shorter wait than 9 months this time.
