VALAIRE!!! The one who was there at the end. I have chills!

Senio Holland

Hmm... so he's started talking to his leveling High; let's get it a bod too... rip it on out

Silver Beard

Called it!

Catherine

So many mysteries unveiled these last few chapters, and yet it doesn't stop. This train has no brakes, magnificient. Great work, KamikazePotato.

CMDR Dantae

It could be that the souls of beings in the previous world were amalgamated together to form the skills that are currently used in Elatra. It wouldn't surprise me for that to be the case, given the gods behaviors that we have seen.

Trevor Smith

I still remember the scene in the mystery house were Rob denied the universe to remember valances name loved it so much

Articbezercer

No, I just checked and the one in the office was named Reynold. The other commenter is correct; Valaire was the one in the mystery house.

Julia

Valaire!? From the earlier version of Elatra? I may have to read the Merfolk territory chapter again. Is it a name chosen in honour? Or is Valaire the soul of Diplomacy, having been chosen to embody a skill for the new world, at the end of their old world. I can't wait! Great chapter! Great character building!

Jag Sandhu

holy heck, the love-hate relationship that i have for cliff-hangers that imply some shit is about to go down is strong with this one. Valaire was the one in the office telling the other Human to go ahead with their Project what's-it-called, the one (i think) was codename for the Cataclysm. Could Valaire have had the highest Diplomacy level pre-Cataclysm? Or was their soul or part of their soul somehow plucked from somewhere and used as a base for Diplomacy for everyone?

thodoris kavouras

Can you remind me?

Captain Nuclear

Ohhhhh shiz Valaire wasn't a name I expected to hear again

Smellvin

Who is Valaire again? I think there used to be someone with that name

Mr von Twistern

Produx :}

Because if Rob has been female, they would have assumed she/her. They/Them traditionally is used to refer to hose with undefined pronouns ("I was talking to my sister's doctor, they're pretty knowledgeable")

Raphael Mort

Correct me if I am wrong, but when diplomacy was a sexless disembodied voice in Rob's head... wasn't the chosen pronoun 'he/him'? Why did everyone switch to the 'they/them' pronouns now?

BeepBoop

So, is Diplomacy actually the reincarnated Valaire, or did they just pick that name in honor of Valaire's memory? Also... Valaire's physical description and voice reminds me a lot of an angel. Totally androgynous, human-*ish*, beautiful voice, weapons on hand pretty much 24/7 in case of smiting. Could be coincidental, as a former skill, it would make sense for their physical form to be dedicated to the concept of diplomacy, and so be appealing to everyone, regardless of sex, species, etc.

Pantheon

HOLY FUCKING SHOT VALIERE???

Catra

Oh man, and here I was all ready to post my theory that Diplomacy, and probably other skills, was one of the original inhabitants that were somehow trapped in, for lack of a better term, the backend of the system. I'm guessing that since Rob isn't a part of the system, when the skills got grafted onto him in the slapshod manner they did, it left enough of and opening for more than whatever is was the skills were drawing on from them to come through. I'm also guessing this backend is where the humans went to when they did the cataclysm. Punched a hole through reality, although more cleanly than the nuke, and sent their souls through.

Nathan Linder

Diplomacy has a name!!!!

Jonathan Crandall

Amazing chapter

Catra

Yaaaaay diplomacy’s back!

Nick

yyyYYYOOOOOOOOOOOOO

TheArchivist

Sweet Christ, are all skills made from the souls of people the gods sacrificed? Free us indeed.

Toua77

Jokes aside, this is the consequence of writing a plot heavy series in a serial format. When stuff is happening consistently, there isn't going to be a good non-cliffhanger stopping point, really. It would be different if I had large sections dedicated to grinding or slice of life.

KamikazePotato

Must every chapter have a cliffhanger of some kind? πŸ˜‚
