I hope Rob has San damage resistance. That would also explain why the calamity that humans unleashed left no bodies. It functionally ate them body mind and soul to power the spell. Which went all kinds of boom.

2022-03-14 06:55:49 +0000 UTCCould be any number of reasons. Fiends have been in Elatra for a lot longer than humans, so it’s possible they had it a couple thousand years ago and lost it. Alternatively, they might have had a different drive, I’m thinking souls. Maybe they don’t get addicted to leveling, but instead get addicted to eating souls. That would put them solidly as an enemy of the races, which is seemingly the goal of the gods. Now, though, such things are forbidden. I’m sure that humans would have forbidden leveling if it was actually possible with fast learner and skill experience and wouldn’t leave them effectively crippled next to the other races.

2022-03-14 04:55:21 +0000 UTCThat could certainly explain leveling high, at least. A lingering motivation to grow stronger from when they were monsters. Alternatively, that might have been a shortcut the gods used to save on influence, simply creating monsters instead of a true race.
