Leveling high will never get better as far as we know, his soul is literally coming appart at the seams, he can't properly fight people, who are definitely his biggest threat, and to top it all of a murderous dragon woman is coming for him. If he lives to 60 and isn't miserable I'd be shocked at this point in the story.
