2021-10-21 04:21:59 +0000 UTCSoul Magic can heal Soul Burnt, and/or allow someone to harness "Soul" power non-lethally (ie circumvent Soul Burn fatality), and the Fiends are the key to understanding and/or killing the gods. The reason they're isolated is to protect the dickbag divine Admins from their just recompense. Also, level 99 = Godhood. My thoughts, anyway. Edit: The Blight was manufactured by the Gods specifically to control the arcane advancement of Elatra and to stop its species discovering a way to work with the Fiends, whose magic is able to counteract / impede Divine power. The Blight isn't an error or bug, it's a manufactured virus that the Gods use to alleviate challenges to their power. They are also beholden to the System, and are in fact less ROOT Admins and more like Game Masters on steroids. It's why that one god talked about "Influence": The Gods work within the confines of the System, with some leeway. They don't control it, they exert influence over it. That's also why the System can't process Blight: The "Gods" invented it for their own ends, and the System is trying to rationalize it.

2021-10-12 23:36:49 +0000 UTCI wonder if the Fiends' repulsion towards Rob and the Elves' inability to understand Fiendish as actual words have the same cause. Most MMOs have an evil enemy. Maybe the Fiends are supposed to be this world's evil enemy (assuming that the Blight is more like a glitch in the game), but since they are apparently just living normal lives and probably would be friendly rather than evil if they could communicate with the other races normally, various measures were taken (by the gods/game masters/ admins/ whatever?) to make sure they and the other races definitely can NOT communicate properly and are naturally tempted to go against each other (due to disgust, hate, bleeding ears, etc).

It's one of those societal things where people don't understand what happens on the other side of a country, let alone another nation altogether
