2021-09-27 11:14:37 +0000 UTCHonestly, depending on context. I'm probably going to say "in before" if it goes FUBAR. Rob would just lop of an arm, and replace it with a "Chainsaw", or mecha-arm... But honestly, more likely. This is probably going to spiral to "Dragon Queen ruins everything", or derails/fucks the world further, or Rob kills a Dragon Queen... And unwittingly get's dragged/escalated to a Fiends game, or hunger sort of deal? Or as a "no afterlife?" Joke aside. If Rob just ends up with a 'fairer' Demon, or fiend taking interest on if he'd stay "pure", or "charcoal" in taste... And his madness, ends up influencing/infecting that fiend, with interest?

2021-09-22 20:10:14 +0000 UTCThinking about it, pitch black eyes could eadily be cameras. They have 4 limbs, but aren't described as humanoid, they could easily have radio antenna not horns. They could even be aliens. Then again, the Elves know what metal is, so it would have to be a carbon fibre or plastic exoskeleton to be robots. We've already seen skyscrapers after all.

There seems to be a connection between "soul burnt" and his problem...and we just found out that fiends can fuck with your soul. I think rob is going to have a fiend poke around in his soul to fix this issue(or just one happens to devour his soul...can't be soul burnt without a soul). It was explained that this would take away your afterlife, it didn't say it would immediately kill you.

The Deadpool's Brain Paradox states that if Rob is healing from severe brain damage without any information loss, then his brain is backed up and the world is directly or indirectly virtual. Like, Matrix-pod virtual or full-uploaded. They could still have meat avatars in a physical space to sidestep the "virtual world" definition. The soul eating demons just reinforce this, as it requires there to be a physical medium to carry a soul's transference. Well, if it was big enough the demon could go full vore- angler-fish, but we don't talk about weaponizing the ship-of-theseus paradox to eat souls.

I hope that isn't the case, because it's the annoying kind of handicap that I don't really want to read about for the next however many chapters it takes to get fixed. The Soul Burn probably interferes with whatever metaphysical background BS that's going on with skills such as Regeneration or Restore Limb.

Or it could be because the Fiends have been known to take photographs of people and someone saw them and assumed it was a mechanism to steal their soul...

When the story shows Keira's perspective, she frequently has very positive thoughts about Rob, more than any other character. And 2/3 of the way through Book 2, Rob ranked up Seduction by giving Keira a meaningful present. None of that indicates that he's going to be left behind.

2021-09-20 07:17:22 +0000 UTCI swear the fiends sound like machines more than living creatures. Smooth insect like chitin, horns that grow larger with age, sharp claw like appendages? Grating untranslatable language? All of those are the hallmarks of a robot using mechanical or digital screeching or perhaps radio or binary speech. The skin and claws could be metallic giving them the battle prowess necessary to be so terrifying. The odd magic could be technology or could be powered by souls, hence the whole soul eating thing. Very cool, and I hope Rob's idea works!

I'm pretty sure I would be far more terrified waking up to a never-ending Heaven, a burning Hell where I'm punished for my sins, or far worse, a goddamn isekai. Eternal, unfeeling sleep every time, man.

2021-09-20 04:57:53 +0000 UTCAt some point in the future, I'm assuming Rob will ask the reasonable question of how they know the fiends eat souls. There doesn't seem to be any kind of "soul sight" skill. The only soul related thing we've seen is Rob's status effect and that was unheard of. And they can't communicate with the fiends. So even figuring out they eat souls would be difficult, whether or not it's true. Them all having the stigma totally makes sense. And Rob not questioning it with the emotional impact of that bombshell works. I mean the foreshadowing is already pretty blatant that not everything is as it appears to be, so I'm guessing this is being set up so it will all come out when they encounter the fiends anyways. It just seems like something you'd obviously question sooner rather than later. Also why do I like math dragon so much? I have no idea.
