I selected the continent, used the "copy geometry" tool, and then moved/deleted points to mark out the section I split off, and created a new feature. Then I did it again to mark out the other region, aligning the edge with the other one I already created.

I may as well ask this since it's a simple question. Did you redraw the separate continental fragments on top of the supercontinent or is there a way to cut a polygon into two or more sections (Since when I tried, it said the line cutting tool wasn't available :/).

I have been thinking about that actually, but for now the simple answer to your question is that all items with the same plate id will move together, and you can use conjugate plates to make multiple plate ids move together, split up, or fuse. I made the supercontinent first and split it as I went along.

Reading this, I honestly think a tutorial made by you on Gplates would be great. The linked tutorial is excellent but I am wondering how you keep things like the Cratons and Orogenies in line with plate movement as well as how you match up the beginning continents (I don't know if you created the continents first before the supercontinent or somehow cut up the supercontinent after making it). I'd definitely be cool to see your own tutorial if you have time!
