Little Guys Episode 11

Relief at last. I've been having a really tough time making progress on anything - the summer refuses to leave and the studio remains incredibly hot, so I only managed to get in there on an unseasonably cool day (which was still sweltering, just tolerable) last week, and it'll be probably another 4-5 days before I can turn that into a finished video... and suddenly I looked up and it had been over two weeks since I released anything. So, here's a little guy who's not so little, but definitely has some neat surprises inside. Enjoy!

I can't believe this series has such legs. They're all interesting!

After just having spent some time in a hospital, I have become fascinated with this type of equipment. Great video, long live little guys.

Interesting unit , can you not change out the screen?

Andi Archer

they could have easily fit a screen 2" wider in that case.

I love the Metabo screw driver! I got it for the exact reason you did. Btw on low clutch settings you can use it to screw into unthreaded plastic without worrying about striping out the hole. My only complaint is that it is floppy. It doesn’t like staying open or closed super positively. I chopped it up and plastic welded it straight (my preferred grip) and also welded a new battery bay into it, so it works with Ryobi USB lithium batteries. Oh! Also it is all made out of carbon fiber reinforced polyamide. Feels sturdy as hell, and is a dream to weld on.

With that touchscreen, this would be a neat box to use with one of those pci oscope cards I always see on ebay

"Fails on cold startup, works when trying again" - 90+% chance it's one or more bad capacitors. Not sure if it would be on the MB or PSU.

Yes, please do a follow up with Linux

Babe put the computer away and come to bed it’s midnight and we’re on vacation. I can’t, new Little Guys just dropped!

I love that touchscreen chassis. With some quieter fans it would fit in perfectly next to my other SBC shoeboxes for displaying server status screens or my security cameras. A friend of mine repairs various hospital hardware. There's some really old gear still in use at his hospital. And of course companies charge triple what it's worth for medical equipment. Tho it does look like Stryker spent a few bucks on that custom capture card. Our ambulance stretcher costs more than my car. >_<
