So this is huge in my life.. do you all remember me looking for an apartment over the summer? So here's the down low. My roommate moved out (in April or May, I can't remember lol), and I couldn't find a new place to move into that fit my needs. There is a pretty terrible housing shortage in Los Angeles, and every time I would apply to a place, there would already be 10+ applications put in (and lets face it, even when I was offering several months of rent up front, being self employed is seen as a pretty big negative). So after a lot of frustration and disappointment, I decided to take on the entirety of my current apartment until I could find the right place to move into. This has been financially straining for me as I've had to dip into my savings, but I've made it work to the best of my ability.
When I returned from Australia something in my head snapped and said "its time to find a place!" and I went online, saw a place that sounded perfect, viewed it the next day and was approved. I think timing is everything in life-and it just so happened all my stars aligned, finally.
The positives of this apartment: it is SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than my current place, it is large (2 bed 1 bath-I CONSTANTLY have traveling models stopping through and needing a place to stay), it is on the first floor (I want this for my elderly dog), and it is in a good neighborhood. The negatives: this is only a one year lease option and then the building is planning on tearing down for condos. This means I have to save my money like crazy for the next 12 months if I want to buy a house, and I will have to go through the stress of moving again. Other negatives are that they are not painting the unit before move in (part of the cheap rent is i'm taking it in "as is" condition), there is no refrigerator or microwave included, and there isn't central air, just a unit in the living room, so I will need to buy one for each bedroom. I figure even if I have to spend a lot up front though, I'm going to save a LOT over the course of a year, so it should be worth it.
I will have keys in hand in 14 days, and I'm going through everything I need to do, making lists, and generally freaking out.

So if I'm a bit chaotic over November and December, please please please be patient with me. I'm doing my very best <3 Outside of all of the moving chaos, i've got a lot on my plate. A few shoots booked, Kay Jay will be staying with me for 4 days, Thanksgiving, I'm selling vintage clothing at the Rose Bowl this Sunday, Titania is flying in on my official move out date, and then the next day she and I will be heading north to collaborate with Theresa Manchester for her book project. Oof, i'm exhausted just reading this.
time for bed, I'll get a photoset up soon!
