So I survived Adultcon, lol.
This was a lot more of a stripper convention, and a lot less of a model convention than I was led to believe, but overall I would probably do it again. I got to meet some interesting people, see an old friend or two and make a few work contacts.
This particular convention had me pretty paranoid as I was really unsure of how to interact with the fan base. While I did have a few people who questioned why a softcore model was at the event (and even had one guy ask me where my porn was and when I said I didn't do porn, he awkwardly backed away from my booth like he was a stalking cat trying not to be seen, and trying to avoid eye contact) it overall went well. Most people were receptive to my work, and a lot of couples appreciated my artistic prints because they were pieces that could be put on the walls and not just hidden away in sock drawers like so much of the other stuff being sold at the convention.
I definitely saw some unusual characters-a guy in a furry costume, lots and lots of fetishists, a girl wearing a butt plug with a black bunny tail attached (and while sort of cute from up close, from afar it appeared that she'd had an unfortunate accident and should get to the bathroom asap -LOL!!). I ran into Akira Lane whom I've always had a fondness for, I said hello to Ron Jeremy (whom I had a small part with in a mainstream movie that hasn't been released yet), and I also had some friends teaching fetish and kink classes.
On Friday night after the convention, I met up with my cousin Jayme Langford (some of you may know who she is because she's in the industry), and we went to see the band Royal Machines at the Roxy in west Hollywood. Royal Machines is a lineup of rockstars such as Dave Navarro, Mark McGrath, Sebastian Bach etc who all get together and do covers of their favorite metal/rock songs of the past. Jayme and I started watching the show from the back of the audience, but eventually worked our way to the front. About half way through the show, Dave Navarro pulled the two of us onto the stage! Everyone must have thought we were such groupies, lol. Just the band and two girls! Jayme is a bit more of a rockstar than me, so she played it cool and just enjoyed the show... but me... I awkwardly stared at the audience and felt like I better suck in the entire time. I'm so bad at being in the spot light, y'all have no idea. I was terrified that they were going to try to make me sing along to songs I didn't know, haha! Rock cover bands always end up doing music by groups like Alice in Chains, instead of bands I actually know all the words to, like Judas Priest. Murphy's law I suppose. Either way, it was a huge relief for me when the show ended because I could stop sucking in and breath again. Overall though, it was a really cool experience and totally surreal. I was on stage with a bunch of rock stars on Friday night. I'm living the Hollywood dream, lol.
I suppose I'll end this here. Have a wonderful holiday season in case I don't talk to you for a few days!
