Looking for input regarding support tiers
Added 2019-09-16 19:46:31 +0000 UTCHi to all my supporters,
I had a suggestion to possibly create tiers of support levels. I'm wondering if any of you think it makes sense, and if so, what sort of rewards would you expect to get.

Regardless, thank you for whatever you feel you can do

2021-09-28 03:29:02 +0000 UTCi think people will be as generous as they can afford to be and the best way to do that is to have a visible option to make a larger single donation rather than anther £3-5 monthly sub. sometimes in flush, sometimes im not. personally id probably donate more over time in bigger infrequent bits than any monthly sub higher than £1-£2

2021-09-26 23:36:46 +0000 UTCI fully agree. For two bucks, if I ask for a change in something, do I expect it? Your working your arse off keeping kool mods alive, that worked fine in the day, and keeping them available.. That;s what I subscribed to, and expect. I never thought that i could ask for a favor..

2019-09-20 02:27:20 +0000 UTCA feature poll that you're free to subsequently ignore is good enough for me. Plenty of people pay for access to beta (but that can be a high social load) or credit mentions, I guess. I suspect expedited support might blow back.

2019-09-18 20:08:48 +0000 UTCI appreciate your comments. One thing I don't want to do is get into support requests here. If I do this, it will be a way to acknowledge the support

2019-09-18 19:47:09 +0000 UTCI subscribed years ago when you were making my favorite mods up to date.. I digress that I don't play the current version of this game that much.. I'm playing a 1.3 GPP world with many lives at stake and I krinch at start over AGAIN... KSP has always been starting again.. I have no issue with the support so long as you you do what you do best.. When I get time, I do love this game and will restart.. When I do, I will enjoy your updated mods.. As far as tiers? I don't know, I assume the ones asking are asking for a lower tier, 2$ 5$ or the like.. and what are they asking.. are they fly by nights or just financially succumbed? Do you want input from all the riff raff?

2019-09-18 08:20:10 +0000 UTCYou've got to look at how much money you think it'll bring in vs. how much headache it's going to cause you. I suspect the headaches will far outpace the money but I don't really have much to base that on. For me personally I don't really ask modders for support. I will sometime ask people in a thread if they've encountered the same issue I'm having, or if I'm pretty sure I've found a bug I will report it. If I can't figure out how to fix it myself, or if I'm pretty sure there's a coding bug then I just assume I have to live with it. Modding is a hobby or a passion project ... I'm not going to make demands of it. Others however will demand fixes of the mod author as their very first troubleshooting step... as I'm sure you well know. I suspect "support tiers" will likely make some people feel even more entitled. Then again, maybe not.

2019-09-17 13:44:36 +0000 UTCI signed up as a supporter just as a way to thank you for the work on the mods. I do not anticipate ever requesting support. Tiers would make no difference to me. BTW Thank you!

2019-09-17 01:17:52 +0000 UTCHey! I have tiers set up on my own Patreon, but that's because it is more of a media thing. I think a mention in credits could be nice. The problem with expedited bugfixes or picking up favored old mods is that, if you set the tier too low, there's nothing preventing someone from paying you once and then stopping after you've done as they've asked while your regular patrons that are on a lower tier aren't (necessarily) getting the same support. If you set it too high, then you may discourage people from joining. You've seen me evangelizing on the boards asking for more support for modders like (and especially, tbh) yourself. I obviously have no statistics, but I presume that the majority of people that use mods don't think twice about benefiting from other's hard work without any cost to themselves. One thing you could do, but that may have consequences, is to accept bug reports from anyone, but to make it clear that feature requests that aren't already on your radar are only accepted from patrons. Of course, I can think of a few downsides to this as well. As I've mentioned to you before, you were the first person I ever supported via Patreon. I did it not because you are the only modder that I appreciate or donate to, but because of the scope and breadth of the mods you maintain. Private Theory and Star Division (yes, I know what I did there) would be extremely smart if they simply added you to their Squad of devs (okay, I'll stop). You do a lot for the community. You are most definitely due support and appreciation. If you create tiers, I will certainly consider them, and the deciding factor for me would be less the "rewards" and more whether I can justify the ongoing expense, especially when there are other concerns begging for my money (some of them related to me). Whatever you decide, if I can help spread the word or assist in any other way, send me a message.

2019-09-16 20:45:00 +0000 UTCI can live with token gestures like mentioning Patrons in READMEs or something. I also like Nightingale's tiers, name of the Patron in a Contract Pack is pretty funny :D

2019-09-16 20:29:20 +0000 UTCExpedited bugfixes to favored mods, feature requests, requests to adopt languishing mods. I'm not sure how well that works with a monthly payment system as opposed to a straight donation.
