I'd think the Collar isn't why she is attached to Dave. Given that she had already started to develop an appreciation and or attachment for him, after he jumped in front of her and took tranq's in her stead, before the collar was put on her. Maybe it could be partially responsible for her feelings developing faster, but its highly unlikely that it is responsible for her feelings for Dave given his bosses were intending to use her to dispose of him.
