First Lieutenant Blyse holstered his pistol, folding his arms sternly. "This is clearly a bio-research facility."
Maddin shook her head. "It isn't. Or, it wasn't. Not initially. The original team was sent here by the Abraxxian Triumvirate to study an anomaly in the Tempest Stream. They were developing a way to stabilize a rift, but then... something came through."
"One of these creatures?"
She nodded. "Just one. It affixed itself to one of the technicians. My team and I were brought in to study it and determine whether the host could be saved. More came through, and we contained them, but the creature... the original creature... either it knew how to operate our technology or it somehow accessed the host's ability to do so. It killed several medical personnel before it escaped, then sabotaged our equipment to open the rift for its kind."
"And you think it was one of these infected that activated the distress beacon?" Blyse surmised.
"We do. And now you're here, and these things have a window into the Known Worlds...."
This is the 13th entry for our "Oddtober" event, filling double duty today as our Multiverse Monday post! Every odd day (up through Halloween), we'll be releasing some models following a sci-fi horror theme (all following a light narrative), adding them to the $5+ reward folder as we go. Today's models (three Ungrafted) will print support free in FDM.
