Patrons ONLY! Delos 2.0 Timelapse #5 (Crossbeam and Longeron Fabrication)

Hey team- This timelapse takes us right up to the FLIP! We needed to switch back and forth between camera angles as most of the action is the fabrication of the longeron and the cross beam. They are two huge elements and needed to be finished before the flip as the entire weight of the boat would hang from them! Hope you enjoy this and as always put your questions below and we'll do our best with them. Sending lot's of love from Australia! Brian, Kazza, and Sierra

I’ve also found this website to be very informative: http://www.kastenmarine.com/corrosion.htm

I’m pretty sure the problem with maggie was a dissimilar metals issue that went on for some time (years) In that case the anodes would help with stray currents (electrolysis) but not with this. It’s been recommended that a metal two-part epoxy paint in the bilge could protect against any issues like this.

Love the different camera positions on this time lapse. Mesmerizing to watch this progress to fast

Awesome!

So much happening, long hours, and making a get-together happen, no wonder you’re a little under the weather, Brian. Take good care of yourself, we’ll still be here when you’re better and full of energy again. And, CONGRATS on hitting the flippin milestone! :D.

Colleen Balch

Looking so good Delos I cannot wait to see the top.

William Brandon Kahler

I'm curious, you recently discovered pitting (and a leak) on maggie which is also Aluminium. Having found that, do you have any concerns at all with the new boat, and is there anything beyond fitting sacrificial anodes that you're planning to avoid it? Would fitting an anode to Maggie help in that situation?

Great time lapse, once again thanks for a wonderful weekend. Great to meet you all. Cheers John

Hey Ed, well it's still TBD but we'll start working on the fitout in October and hope to be pretty close towards end of next year!

Sailing SV Delos

Ha ha yeah, I got a farmers tan one day by having my top button down a bit too much :)

Sailing SV Delos

Hey guys! When do you expect Delos 2.0 to be in the water & ready to go?

Ed

Hey Brian have you found out yet why we cover up so much while tig or mig welding ally? By getting the dreaded ray burns? Ouch!

John Warnes

Another awesome timelapse, Brian. Hope you get better very soon.

Jeff Mack

Best time lapse yet. Amazing how quickly it starts to look like a complete boat once the last couple of pieces go on.
