Added 2024-07-05 15:00:07 +0000 UTCBuckle up Delos tribe we've got a spicy one for ya today! It's finally time to depart our beloved Tuamotus. Our haulout date was scheduled, our provisions were getting dismal, and we had soooo much to do to prepare Delos for being on the hard for 9 whole months. So we set off and pointed our bow west, and little did we know what was in store for us...the forecast for the wind looked fantastic, but there would be quite a bit of swell. Nothing that was worrying though, and certainly nothing compared to some of the extreme conditions we've encountered over the years. But it's been a while since we've been out in seas like that, and we were in for a bit of a rude awakening. We got absolutely rocked out there, but even if it was pretty uncomfortable, we were absolutely FLYING and we even caught a GIGANTIC mahi! So we're going to call this one a win for sure! It's good to get a little flogging out there every now and then and remind us we are true sailors ๐.

2024-07-11 21:34:55 +0000 UTCI spoke to a few different people and they said that when sailing it should be locked in REVERSE. And since buying the boat I've locked it in FORWARD to feather the prop. Which is strange because it's the same transmission and I did that for so long, but if you read the manuel it says locking in forward can actually damage the transmission. So strange right? I wonder if they changed the internal design?

Now that it is over, clearly you guys were FLYING through the water! And I wonder, . . . was the rocking side to side mainly due to the rough wave action? In other words, if the wind had been the same, but ocean calmer, would you have rocked as much? Or, perhaps the wind speed liked to go up and down - gust then slow then gust then slow, over and over. Blustery, in other words.
