Patrons ONLY! Delos 2.0 Weekly Timelapse (#2)
Added 2024-06-11 07:20:44 +0000 UTCHey Delos Tribe, this weeks build timelapse is hot off the editing machine! Thanks for all the comments and suggestions on last weeks time lapse. I did my best trying to narrate this weeks. It was a bit tricky but I'll try to do better next time. Please let us know what you think below and sending lot's of good vibes from Australia!

2024-07-05 23:44:01 +0000 UTCBrian, you've done it - I've been watching you guys keenly for 5 or so years now, seen you fearlessly tackle most every kind of boat task imaginable and then some and finally, you have mentioned woodworking! Speaking as a carpenter by trade (I describe myself now as a recovering builder) and owner of a traditional sailboat for the last 35 years, well, that warms my heart. My guess is that the casework and such will not be your toughest hurdle, but I would shy away from getting in but so deep on the nuts and bolts of that (and the finishing thereof) as I see it a lifetime pursuit - and you appear to have plenty of irons in your fire at present (and want to splash your new ride sometime this century). I'm guessing that you will be moving away from (what looks like) the darker Sapele veneers on Delos 1.0 to something lighter (Scandanavian if you will), like a beech/ birch veneer. I had a client who built a 70 catamaran and used beech throughout - it was quite lovely as you can imagine. Best of luck moving forward - you know where to find me if you'd like to pick the brain of a dinosaur, but younger, brighter minds will likely serve you better.

2024-06-20 21:31:57 +0000 UTCI'm going to love watching these timelapse videos. And watching Delos 2.0 take her shape. So exciting!!

2024-06-16 18:38:35 +0000 UTCThe narrated weekly recaps are great! I would definitely love to get more of these!

2024-06-15 19:23:18 +0000 UTCAnd it is much much much more interesting than first time lapse video without sound and narration.

2024-06-15 10:20:37 +0000 UTCYes, this is very helpful to get a sense how much progress is happening in a week and what is going on. Also comments about technical details like structural diesel and water tanks are also very interesting.

2024-06-15 00:14:34 +0000 UTCI'm liking the time-lapse clips, and they are better with you narrating since I've never built a boat or welded. Your explanations make them very accessible.

2024-06-12 17:54:23 +0000 UTCAbsolutely fantastic to see how aluminum is used. Please could you mention the details for the Alu: type, thickness and so on? Asking for these details, cause I know how difficult is to alu weld without burning right through, melting a large hole. In regards to the diesel tank: I didn't really understand how and where the tank is located specifically. Also I would mean that there has to be double wall between the diesel and the seawater? Anyway: thanks for this great informative TimeLap. Cant wait for the next one.

2024-06-12 17:20:58 +0000 UTCNarration makes it much more engaging. Great video

2024-06-12 02:40:05 +0000 UTCAwesome!! Narration, day titles, and slower speed make this one way better than the first. Even something as "mundane" as this time lapse I find fascinating and I learned a lot. Thanks!
Eric G Miller
2024-06-12 02:23:01 +0000 UTCYour narration made slowing down the playback unnecessary, but I started watching without my earbuds, so naturally went to 0.25x. Then I put on my earbuds. Whoah... super-drunk-sounding, Captain!π€ͺ All in all very educational and well done!

2024-06-11 21:20:55 +0000 UTCThanks for the narration! These time-lapses really help tell the tale of the build. One thing that has become evident is the amount of work required. I'm so pleased with how far along, so quickly, compared to having done this in Sweden. I can't wait for the flip and then, eventually, the fitting out.
Chris Brown
2024-06-11 20:45:34 +0000 UTCNarration and a little background music is great! Amazing to see the progress! Just a suggestion: sometimes you talk about a specific part you are adding. Maybe highlight it? Could be with just a little arrow or something so we know exactly where to look. Great stuff!
Chris K
2024-06-11 20:17:09 +0000 UTCJust a health note. Find a pair of comfortable knee pads to wear on this build. Knees wear out. $100,000 plus per knee for replacements without health insurance. Plus pain and healing. π€π€
Patrick Murray
2024-06-11 18:27:49 +0000 UTCawesome how it's all coming along! Any chance we can see some of the plans and shop drawings you are working off, maybe dispersed into the time-lapse?! ...just in case you had some free time lol keep it up!

2024-06-11 17:58:39 +0000 UTCI have watched a couple of boat builds lately (la Vagabond and the Wynns). Itβs quite interesting to compare fiberglass and aluminum construction. I think itβs easy to see why the fiberglass boats arenβt really meant to leave the tropics. Good show!
Michael and Phyllis Selby
2024-06-11 17:23:16 +0000 UTCThe narration certainly made things better. I have a couple other questions though. Since it is winter in Australia it's getting close to the shortest day. So how long does daylight last? I'm also wondering about the temps in "F" degrees. What some may not know is that our planet is further away from the Sun during Australian winter and closer during Australian summer. That should make both seasons more "extreme" than up here north of the equator. Finally, are you in northern Australia, southern or somewhere in between?
Scott C. Wise
2024-06-11 15:18:18 +0000 UTC100% more interesting with your commentary. The slower speed was great. A little more light in the building is all that I could see to improve. (old Colonial work saying: "Keep your nose to the grindstone!" It meant that ... if your 2 grinding wheels were not set right, the grain would start to burn and you could smell it, and noone wants their grain burned!) Keep 'em flyin
Bonne Mike

2024-06-11 14:29:31 +0000 UTCdefinitely good to have the narration! suggestion: if you have something to focus on, maybe slow it down for that portion, or freeze frame it. But I guess the weekly videos will cover that. Regardless, good job with the timelapse!
Erik Adler
2024-06-11 14:27:16 +0000 UTCGreat narration. Just describing the locations allow for understanding of processes. For those of us watching now and the progress, later when she's on the water sailing any references to items will help us to understand locations in the boat. The question I have are the diesel tanks double hulled?
George W Shute

2024-06-11 12:57:33 +0000 UTCπ, on the narration and time lapse videoed! Itβs fun to see the process. I donβt know if Iβm in the minority but over the years of watching your videos Iβve always enjoyed the boat project videos and would love to see as much of the boat build process as possible. Pete

2024-06-11 12:24:37 +0000 UTCNice! I am curious about the fuel and water tanks being part of the hull. So are the "outsides" of the tanks actually hull plates? If there is a puncture or a leak on a hull plate that could be really bad right? I am just concerned about "tank protection". Maybe I mis-understood. Cheers, Skip
Skip Vail
2024-06-11 12:23:02 +0000 UTCgreat narration and many congratulations on a build coming together so nicely!

2024-06-11 12:19:32 +0000 UTCAwesome. The narration and background music make it that much better. Amazing how fast this is progressing since you two announced Delos 2.0
Kirk Boston
2024-06-11 11:50:10 +0000 UTCCanβt believe how fast the build is moving along! Having the wing deck plating on makes it so much easier to work on the hulls. Love the mini keels, and skeg rudders, too much trash in the oceans. The keels protect the hulls, make it safe to beach the boat, may help keep lines out of the prop.
Mark Gumprecht
2024-06-11 11:08:46 +0000 UTCLove the narration! I'm looking forward to hearing about how you'll make sure it's watertight when welding the whole thing together! Looks like huge progress this week!

2024-06-11 11:06:59 +0000 UTCFantastic job! The music and narration made it so much better. I'm really looking forward to the weekly time lapses. Thanks also for the drone shots - and the bit of normal video showing the crew was great.

2024-06-11 10:21:40 +0000 UTCGreat job on the narration! Makes it much more interesting. Is there any way you can slow the time lapse down just a little? That would help. Hope Sierra is doing great in school!!
