Patrons ONLY! Delos 2.0 Weekly Timelapse (#2)

Hey Delos Tribe, this weeks build timelapse is hot off the editing machine! Thanks for all the comments and suggestions on last weeks time lapse. I did my best trying to narrate this weeks. It was a bit tricky but I'll try to do better next time. Please let us know what you think below and sending lot's of good vibes from Australia!

B52 is coming along nicely

John Warnes

Headed to Tahiti in August. Where will you be storing the Amel version of SV Delos in the Society Islands? Just curious.

peter coye

Brian, you've done it - I've been watching you guys keenly for 5 or so years now, seen you fearlessly tackle most every kind of boat task imaginable and then some and finally, you have mentioned woodworking! Speaking as a carpenter by trade (I describe myself now as a recovering builder) and owner of a traditional sailboat for the last 35 years, well, that warms my heart. My guess is that the casework and such will not be your toughest hurdle, but I would shy away from getting in but so deep on the nuts and bolts of that (and the finishing thereof) as I see it a lifetime pursuit - and you appear to have plenty of irons in your fire at present (and want to splash your new ride sometime this century). I'm guessing that you will be moving away from (what looks like) the darker Sapele veneers on Delos 1.0 to something lighter (Scandanavian if you will), like a beech/ birch veneer. I had a client who built a 70 catamaran and used beech throughout - it was quite lovely as you can imagine. Best of luck moving forward - you know where to find me if you'd like to pick the brain of a dinosaur, but younger, brighter minds will likely serve you better.

I'm going to love watching these timelapse videos. And watching Delos 2.0 take her shape. So exciting!!

Jeff Ridenhour

The narrated weekly recaps are great! I would definitely love to get more of these!

Lukas LΓΌcking

And it is much much much more interesting than first time lapse video without sound and narration.

Igor Razumny

Yes, this is very helpful to get a sense how much progress is happening in a week and what is going on. Also comments about technical details like structural diesel and water tanks are also very interesting.

Igor Razumny

Great clip, the narration was good Brian, surprised you weren’t falling asleep! Delos 2 is looking amazing 🀩

John Hardie

Cool!

Bob and Michelle Murray

I'm liking the time-lapse clips, and they are better with you narrating since I've never built a boat or welded. Your explanations make them very accessible.

SirPGA

Good stuff indeed πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ€™πŸ½β›΄οΈ

Telly

Good stuff!

Andrew Hlavacek

Good questions John, I'll cover some of this stuff in the next one :)

Sailing SV Delos

Love yall πŸ’ͺ

George Deehan

Love the timelapse, really gives a nice look at what the process is

Kevin Clark

I want one, when your done with Delos 2 maybe you could help me? Dreams are what fuel life

Jeff Cure

She is going to be Beautiful

Dusty Ritz

Great narration, thanks.

Wren McMains @DowneastUS

I loved the commentary you did. It looks like everything is coming together well…

William Stanton

Awesome!

Batesy

Love it!!

Dawn Maronick

That was cool! The narration made it come ALIVE..."It's Alive!" LOL

Atencio's

Absolutely fantastic to see how aluminum is used. Please could you mention the details for the Alu: type, thickness and so on? Asking for these details, cause I know how difficult is to alu weld without burning right through, melting a large hole. In regards to the diesel tank: I didn't really understand how and where the tank is located specifically. Also I would mean that there has to be double wall between the diesel and the seawater? Anyway: thanks for this great informative TimeLap. Cant wait for the next one.

John Harbo

Narration makes it much more engaging. Great video

Kyall

Sooo much better with the narration! Thank You!

Tim and Wendy

Love the narration and the speed of the timelapse! Definitely helps me understand what you are doing.

James Hann

So great. Thanks for sharing!

Abel Serrano

Awesome!! Narration, day titles, and slower speed make this one way better than the first. Even something as "mundane" as this time lapse I find fascinating and I learned a lot. Thanks!

Eric G Miller

Your narration made slowing down the playback unnecessary, but I started watching without my earbuds, so naturally went to 0.25x. Then I put on my earbuds. Whoah... super-drunk-sounding, Captain!πŸ€ͺ All in all very educational and well done!

William Flower

Looking good

Capt. Dustin LaBorde

Thanks for the video. Enjoying the process.

GaryHeatherWest

Thanks for the narration! These time-lapses really help tell the tale of the build. One thing that has become evident is the amount of work required. I'm so pleased with how far along, so quickly, compared to having done this in Sweden. I can't wait for the flip and then, eventually, the fitting out.

Chris Brown

Narration and a little background music is great! Amazing to see the progress! Just a suggestion: sometimes you talk about a specific part you are adding. Maybe highlight it? Could be with just a little arrow or something so we know exactly where to look. Great stuff!

Chris K

Just a health note. Find a pair of comfortable knee pads to wear on this build. Knees wear out. $100,000 plus per knee for replacements without health insurance. Plus pain and healing. πŸ€•πŸ€•

Patrick Murray

awesome how it's all coming along! Any chance we can see some of the plans and shop drawings you are working off, maybe dispersed into the time-lapse?! ...just in case you had some free time lol keep it up!

john eikevik

these updates are great!

Silly Dilly

Brilliant Brian, the commentary was spot on, loving the build.

Alan Gore

I have watched a couple of boat builds lately (la Vagabond and the Wynns). It’s quite interesting to compare fiberglass and aluminum construction. I think it’s easy to see why the fiberglass boats aren’t really meant to leave the tropics. Good show!

Michael and Phyllis Selby

The narration certainly made things better. I have a couple other questions though. Since it is winter in Australia it's getting close to the shortest day. So how long does daylight last? I'm also wondering about the temps in "F" degrees. What some may not know is that our planet is further away from the Sun during Australian winter and closer during Australian summer. That should make both seasons more "extreme" than up here north of the equator. Finally, are you in northern Australia, southern or somewhere in between?

Scott C. Wise

100% more interesting with your commentary. The slower speed was great. A little more light in the building is all that I could see to improve. (old Colonial work saying: "Keep your nose to the grindstone!" It meant that ... if your 2 grinding wheels were not set right, the grain would start to burn and you could smell it, and noone wants their grain burned!) Keep 'em flyin

Bonne Mike

You did great

Stephen P Griswold

This was much better Brian! Loved the narration and the slowed up time lapse. Thank you!

Bill Dapp

Thanks Brian! Don’t forget to breathe

Mike TopCat

definitely good to have the narration! suggestion: if you have something to focus on, maybe slow it down for that portion, or freeze frame it. But I guess the weekly videos will cover that. Regardless, good job with the timelapse!

Erik Adler

Great narration. Just describing the locations allow for understanding of processes. For those of us watching now and the progress, later when she's on the water sailing any references to items will help us to understand locations in the boat. The question I have are the diesel tanks double hulled?

George W Shute

Love the narration!

Andrea and Gisela

I’m with Peter on this one, thanks for the time lapse video’s on the new boat work being done.

Ken Hill

Love the narration!

Sadie Johnson

Well I had left the playback speed at 0.25x from last week πŸ€ͺ that was fun to listen to for about a minute

Andrea and Gisela

I like it. I like it a lot ;^)

lowell mccormick

great narration for a meticulous work

Israel Dayan

Nice job Brian, enjoyed.

Gary Farmer

Thank you for the update.

Randy and Susan

She is coming together so fast! Looking forward to the flip and interior work.

Rick Doner

πŸ‘, on the narration and time lapse videoed! It’s fun to see the process. I don’t know if I’m in the minority but over the years of watching your videos I’ve always enjoyed the boat project videos and would love to see as much of the boat build process as possible. Pete

Peter Larson

Super vidio

Brian D. Campbell

Awesome, love watching things come together 'quickly' Cheers!

SV Trippin'

Looking amazing and really enjoyed your narration

Norm

Nice! I am curious about the fuel and water tanks being part of the hull. So are the "outsides" of the tanks actually hull plates? If there is a puncture or a leak on a hull plate that could be really bad right? I am just concerned about "tank protection". Maybe I mis-understood. Cheers, Skip

Skip Vail

great narration and many congratulations on a build coming together so nicely!

Krystal Couture

Awesome. The narration and background music make it that much better. Amazing how fast this is progressing since you two announced Delos 2.0

Kirk Boston

Can’t believe how fast the build is moving along! Having the wing deck plating on makes it so much easier to work on the hulls. Love the mini keels, and skeg rudders, too much trash in the oceans. The keels protect the hulls, make it safe to beach the boat, may help keep lines out of the prop.

Mark Gumprecht

Love the narration! I'm looking forward to hearing about how you'll make sure it's watertight when welding the whole thing together! Looks like huge progress this week!

Benjamin Valyou

Fantastic job! The music and narration made it so much better. I'm really looking forward to the weekly time lapses. Thanks also for the drone shots - and the bit of normal video showing the crew was great.

Tom Worrell

Yes, good idea, how is Sierra doing?

Jeanne H. Mathieu

Yeah πŸ₯³πŸ₯³πŸ₯³The best Narrator we can possibly have. Liked this one very much. 5 min of intense information and progress in the becoming of D2πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

Jeanne H. Mathieu

The narration was perfect!

Michael Williams

Great job on the narration! Makes it much more interesting. Is there any way you can slow the time lapse down just a little? That would help. Hope Sierra is doing great in school!!

Charles Burns

Making great progress!

Sandi Romih

I really appreciated the narration! Such fun to watch it slowly coming together!❀️⛡️

CATHERINE HACKETT

That was awesome! Good job on the narration.

David Gray

Timelapse is great! Thanks for the narration. Psyched to tune in each week to see what’s happening.

Colleen Balch

How’s Sierra doing with her new school? Has she learned how to say G’day mate?

Gucci Pilot

Incredible!!

Andrej Mitrovic

Yes The progress is amazing! Everything looks excellent and the timelapse surely shows it. Truly cool!

Thomas Lengel

Ha ha it's tough but I have to say there has been marked improvement! Dan assures me even though they aren't pretty they are strong.... So at least i have that going for me :)

Sailing SV Delos

Awesome.. great to see the progress

Peter Hughes

Appreciate the play by play. Keep them coming.

Tim S

Thanks for the timelapses! What a great boat this will be! (even though right now, it looks like you're building a giant Batmobile!

How to Renovate a Chateau

How are your welds looking? Took me awhile until my welds didn't look like little silver poop balls! Cheers to you all from SoCal! 😜

Stephen

Veryverygood! As allways.
