I was hoping to see how the boat frame got started and hear more about the structural shape and why things are shaped the way they are.

Jef Mangelschots

Thanks Kaz, you guys will surely do an amazing job of taking us all through all the thought processes and decisions made as we go through bringing it to live. I am already excited. Enjoy the once in a lifetime time. Wish our the very best best.

Eric Pohlmann

The word I was going for is "broadside". My 70-year-old brain can't cough up words like it used to. 😆

William Flower

Brian is getting pretty good 💪 might not all be super pretty but they are strong. Learning from the best.

Sailing SV Delos

Hey Eric! Great question been thinking to do a more in depth video about why we chose Aluminum so it will fit great into there. Cheers! Kaz

Sailing SV Delos

Hey Gary! Awh I know cannot believe we just missed them in French Polynesia 😔 hope to see them soon though!

Sailing SV Delos

Hey Andrew! Yeah so far it’s coming along really nicely:) amazing we will cover all of these things 💪 so much fun to be here and taking part in the build. 😌

Sailing SV Delos

Amazing Johannes! Will be plenty of that coming up 😊 been all about welding since we got to Australia.

Sailing SV Delos

I'd be interested to hear about the schedule of the build.

Terry Haan

Nice FRC Brian!

Lewis Friedman ॐ

Thanks for sharing, how confident are you getting with your welds?

Juan David

Looking forward to seeing the progress come together 👍

Gary Suffern

This is so cool and exciting! Be sure to put in Ethernet (or/and conduit for future expansion)!

Rick Mann

Nice tour!

Tim Heslip

Hi guys! I find it very exciting to watch you go through the build process with all the difference it brings compared to cruising. Thanks. The simple question I have is why did you decide to build an aluminium boat? I‘d appreciate some insights on that. All the best

Eric Pohlmann

Looking forward to the build of Delos 2.0...Any plans to see Bill and Grace anytime soon?.. enjoy the moment Brian,Kazza, Sierra 👍🇺🇲 Gary

Gary Suffern

Awesome guys! Thanks for sharing. I know nothing but it seems to me that you’re already made significant progress! Congratulations. I definitely want to see more grinding, welding, and shaping. I’m also interested in how the interior of the bulkheads will be finished and, most importantly, in later stages how the boat will be insulated and interiors finished. So, basically, everything 😝. Thanks for the vicarious living. Perhaps one day, if you are looking for extra crew…

Andrew Hlavacek

If you get a chance maybe do a video on aluminium welding? I’ve recently picked up a welder and been really geeking out over welding videos 😄

Johannes Gross

Awesome! I know Brian will get into a lot of detail with that for sure 😊 he is already planning it all out in his head at night 😂 haha!

Sailing SV Delos

Hey Andrew! Awesome I love that ☺️ will for sure introduce the builders. They are a great group and it’s been great working together. Always so much more fun when you work with fun, hard working people that have a lot of knowledge.

Sailing SV Delos

Yeah you don’t see it very often 🤣 hehe! Those are great questions Sadie! Will put them on my to film list for sure 💪☺️

Sailing SV Delos

Hey Zak! Awesome lots of that coming :) hehe! Brian got a reolink camera it’s like a security camera that can take video etc. just got it today so still have to see if it will work ok for us.

Sailing SV Delos

Hey Bonne! Yeah it looks massive in the shop 😅 yeah been a really great change for us. So excited to be here. Yeah today is day 3 of Sierra at daycare and she is loving it 🥰 so proud of her! Hugs! Kaz

Sailing SV Delos

Hey Lowell! Cool, yeah that super interesting will film Brian digging a bit deeper into that for sure :)

Sailing SV Delos

Awesome Brendan! Yeah aluminum is so cool and maybe a dedicated video all about why we chose aluminum and what the pros and cons are could be cool :)

Sailing SV Delos

Awesome Rick! Will do our best 💪 different filming but so much fun.

Sailing SV Delos

Awesome!

Sailing SV Delos

Thanks Eric! Super stoked to be here and see it all come together. Learning so much!

Sailing SV Delos

Hey David! Yeah it’s crazy, so much to learn. We’re about 8 weeks in and about the completion of the whole boat… that is a good question. Depends on so many things and also how much Brian and I can be in Australia. So not really sure yet we’re hoping 3 years? Maybe. 😜 hehe

Sailing SV Delos

Oh I know what a crazy job that would be to do all of that cutting by hand!! 🤯 yeah been quite a change but just so exciting to be here! And this is day 3 for Sierra at daycare and so far she really likes it. So that’s amazing! I believe you can attach and send pictures if you send us a direct message here on Patreon. Oh really want to see this tool now ☺️ Cheers! ~Kaz

Sailing SV Delos

Hey Thomas! I know it’s so amazing to see it all come together. 🥳 really fun to be here and be able to be such big part of the project too. Thank you 😘 cheers ~Kaz

Sailing SV Delos

Hey hey! I don’t think we plan on painting her. Kind of like the Aluminum look 😊 oh that’s amazing! I bet we will take you up on that offer in a few months when we dive into all the systems. She has done so good. Really happy to go back, this is day 3 so I’m really proud of her. Big change for sure. Cheers ~Kaz

Sailing SV Delos

So true! 😋 she is a very beast! Haha. I know so strange but I’m happy we have some because it’s pretty chilly in the mornings and evenings 😅 Cheers! ~Kaz

Sailing SV Delos

fabulous x

Amanda Dunstan

Awesome question William. I’ll have to have Brian compare the two a little later in the project when it’s put together a bit more ☺️ cheers! ~kaz

Sailing SV Delos

Hi Sandi! Amazing questions. Will note these down and make sure we film them as we go though the process. So much to learn, really fun! I myself is super excited to get into the English wheeling soon. Really fascinating process and I’m not 100% sure how it all works either so will have to learn from the best (Dan and the team here at Stradbroke Yachts) 💪🥳 Will start putting the hull plates on soon to so then I’ll make sure to see how the bow comes together :) Cheers ~ Kaz

Sailing SV Delos

Thanks Catherine! Yeah super happy to be here. Such a nice change for us too. Learning lots and working with amazing people 😍 many hugs! ~Kaz

Sailing SV Delos

Hey! Oh Bahamas how amazing 😻 yeah will for sure insulate her both for that and to keep the heat in when we go to colder climates. But we did have a friend I the Philippines when we were there. They had a thick insulation and found that there boat kept cooler a lot longer than Delos does that has no insulation. ~kaz

Sailing SV Delos

Yeah love the Timelapse’s too!! Will make sure we capture putting the hull plates on. It’s coming up pretty soon and we’re most likely starting to English Wheel some Plates next week. That process fascinates me so much! How you can really predict the curve and get it right. Will learn a lot and will be fun to film ☺️ She is doing great on her third day today and still super stoked to go there so that’s amazing 😻 cheers ~Kaz

Sailing SV Delos

Amazing Finn! I know the project is flying along so great to be here. Hope to see you at the boat show 🥳 hugs ~Kaz

😋

Sailing SV Delos

Hey! Will for sure dig deeper into this in the videos 😊 and also talk more about why we chose aluminum. Maybe that can become a whole theme of a video actually. Yeah beaching it will be possible for sure and some ice but maybe not to thick 😋🙃 hehe!! Thanks for coming along on this journey with us ~Kaz

Sailing SV Delos

Thank you!! So exciting to be here 😊

Sailing SV Delos

Miss you Michael! ❤️

Sailing SV Delos

I know 🥳 so exciting!

Sailing SV Delos

Hi William! Amazing question. We sailed on our friends catamaran and they told us about how crazy the waves can be hitting the “bridge deck” of the boat. Will note this down and we’ll talk about this for sure. Very interesting topic. 😘

Sailing SV Delos

Hahah!! That one was amazing Scott 🤣😂

Sailing SV Delos

Hey Mike! Yeah Brian loves work like this and it’s amazing to do it together with such fantastic people 💪 Sierra had a fantastic first day at daycare and I’m loving having the uninterrupted time to really emerge myself in all the video work/ and admin stuff around. We’re planning on flying to Sweden in a few months so will see her then 😚 cannot wait!

Sailing SV Delos

Oh this is such a great one Chris and I’m kind of sad that we didn’t manage to set it up sooner but we actually got the camera today. So should be up and making those long Timelapse’s super soon. ~kaz

Sailing SV Delos

YES! 🥳 we’re capturing it all and learning sooooo much. 😘 ~Kaz

Sailing SV Delos

Nice Maui! Will for sure try to capture this. We’re learning so much already. It’s really fun 😌 ~ kaz

Sailing SV Delos

Awesome! Thanks Amanda Brian have spent a lot of hours on this already so a great idea for a topic for sure. 😘 ~ Kazza

Sailing SV Delos

I know!! It’s so amazing to be here 🥳

Sailing SV Delos

So cool, I can’t believe how fast the project is coming along!

Pete and Nicole

Me too my friend

Mickey Finn

Amazing! I like to to see you research what engines, electric? diesel , brands and why?

Amanda Dunstan

Can’t wait for October , crab cakes with the FINN MAN

Michael Trautman

Love this! I'm interested in seeing how you keep the boat true from stem to stern. Some of the deeper technical details would be interesting.

Maui Rob

I love the energy and Brian's excitement and passion. I want to see everything, the superstructure, the electrics, the plumbing, the decor, everything please

Alan Gore

Wow! It's almost done lol! So much progress! Looking forward to timelapse's, those must be epic on a build like this. You have a 24/7 timelapse running on the build? Would love to see a timelapse that shows the progress over several weeks/months.

Chris K

Great to see Brian digging in and being such a major part of the build! At first I didn't think he would dive in like he has. Good on Ya Mate! and it wouldn't be the same with out Kaza holding down the fort and setting up a new home for Sierra and getting her in school so huge. Can't wate to see her on her new bike too. when is Momar coming to visit?

Mike TopCat

Maybe I'm being honest or perhaps I just ribbing ya, . . . But I think you're being framed!

Scott C. Wise

Yes, I have a question. I look at the current structure and I can't help but wonder about the stress of a wave (or a series of waves) hitting the cat amidships. How have you distributed the stress? I'm sure you have, but I'm insanely curious!

William Flower

Wow, seems like this project is moving a little faster than anticipated! 🙏🏻🙂

Kent Wadenpfuhl

Thank you for showing the skeleton of 2.0… you can really tell a story well … both of you .so at ease sharing your life ….

Michael Trautman

Very cool!, this will be a lot of fun, I would love to know more about the specifications for the hull as you are building, the how's and why's of the engineering, the aluminum doesn't look that thick but of course after completing a full 3D hull it would have to be much more strong than fiberglass or other material. And with your skeg hung rudders and protected propellers I would think you could go anywhere you want, you could beach it and go through ice as well?

FreeWilly

Your excitement is infectious D2 is looking Great well done!!!

SV Trippin'

Try not to smile so much 😀

Richard S Florence

When will the 2.0 gear be available?

Kendall S Rhyne

Hi Guys from Annapolis. Heading down to the marina, taking the boat out with family to watch the Blue Angels show for the USNA Commissioning Week, class of 2024. As for the "first look" Dear God...What a project. Im so surprised how far along Delos 2 has progressed. Cant wait to see how Sierra is getting along. No specific questions yet . I gotta get a Delos 2 shirt :-) All the best....See you on the next tack !

Mickey Finn

You're doing a great job. So interesting - just a model kit only BIGGER {-{}. Looking forward to the time lapses. Also wonder how you'll get to the inside of the hull plates to weld them? English Wheel? Glad to see you're both so excited. Looking forward to seeing how Sierra does in DayCare - I'm sure she'll have a great time.

Tom Worrell

Manifesting a dream with a lot of elbow grease! Great job and beautiful build!

Krystal Couture

As I sit in the Bahamas and out on the AirCon for a couple hours, I think about what if the insulation was better. Could I run it with less power? Would it retain more of the cool when I shut them down?

Matthew, Jenna Hauck svMakai

This is so exciting!! I have no worries re:documenting this massive undertaking. You've always done a good job before on everything else. What an incredible experience to be involved in the construction! Brian seems to be in his element learning new skills and applying new techniques. So happy for you both!!❤️⛵️

CATHERINE HACKETT

Thanks for this update. The build is looking amazing! You asked what we'd like to see more about, and I was thinking that it would be nice to get a detailed overview of the the English wheel and how one uses it to achieve the 3D shape in the aluminum plates. Other than that, I'm also interested in hearing about all sorts of details, like how the bows are welded together (one side is easy as you have access to inside and outside of the plate, but how does the other side get properly welded on?), order of operations and perhaps some info of the general processes required to work with aluminum. I helped my old man build a steel yacht while I was a teenager, and a lot of the methods would be similar, but aluminum is tougher to work with than steel, so I'm eager to hear about all the tricks. I am planning on building myself an aluminum cat soon, so I am trying to make mental notes of the processes. Thanks SO much for sharing this journey. I really appreciate it!

Sandi Romih

I am excited!

CaverEric

I would like to know how much easier will it be to do engine room work on D.2.0 from Delos itself not to mention the heat from the space.

William Brandon Kahler

If she did not allready had a name (Delos 2) she should be called „Beast“ 😜😜😜 Kazza in Jeans 🤣🤣🤣 when was the last time we saw that 😜 So much energy and anticipation for things to come among you 2.

Jeanne H. Mathieu

Wow that is a big cat, an incredible undertaking for you. Are you going to paint her? Don't hesitate to message me if you need labour especially in electronics/electrical. I'm only thirty minutes away. How did daycare go for Sierra? Take care.

SV Sirene Spirit

How exciting!! I would say its coming right along! Looks beautiful cant thank you enough for the opportunity to see it come to this point, and it looks plenty new! God Bless. Enjoy it in Australia! Oh Boy!

Thomas Lengel

Looks amazing! The miracle of cad, and cnc cutting. Can you imagine laying out and cutting all those pieces by hand? Makes things go together really fast! Major shifting of gears in your lives! But sailors are very adaptable, and good problem solvers. It will be great for Sierra to be around other kids her age. Is there anyplace for me to send you a picture of a tool that might be helpful on your project? I call it my can’t live without tool that I have been using for many years on boats, and all the other projects in my life.

Mark Gumprecht

Amazing! Sooo complex! How long did the fabrication take to this point? And what is the approximate time-line for the boat's completion?

David Cooper

Amazing!! I love all the technical details, keep them coming. I'm learning so much. That and I cannot believe how huge it looks. I'm blown away and so excited for you all.

Eric G Miller

Very Exciting! Starting to look very cool!

Bill Dapp

This is so exciting!!

Jeff Ridenhour

Ooohh this is awesome and so excited for you. Bring on the technical discussions, I can’t wait.

Dan Moss

this is happening way faster then expected. thats awesome.

Fried Toast

Her embryonic bones are clever. Can't wait to see more!!

Emily

I think some in-depth explanation of different components/compartments as they get done would be great. You explain stuff that are difficult to understand really well and so lean on that.

Rick Betancourt

Thats super cool guys, and how interesting to see how the space is used. looks like not a lot of wasting aria and something an aluminium build can provide.

Brendan Gregory

As a draftsman & metal fabricator I'd be interested in seeing Brian go over the dwgs and explain the frame numbers, the piece marking system and how you use the dwgs to fit up the parts & pieces.

lowell mccormick

Looks like the makings of a star wars space ship.. 🚀

Paul

That Ship is enormous! It looks like two airplanes being assembled . You two look so happy. Hard work always agreed with you. I hope we can see Sierra at Day Care soon. That will bring back some memories of the 70's for me. Keep 'em flyin

Bonne Mike

I am impressed that it's already that far along. Very cool to see. Keep moving forward.

Brian Richardson

Great video! I’d love more videos of all the nitty gritty details. Also, what camera did you get for the new Timelapses?

Zak Verduyn

This is exciting stuff guys, amazing progress..!! Love the video.

Trudy and Chris

I feel like before today the only time I had seen Brian with his shirt tucked in was when they were clearing in/out and needed to look “respectable” 🤣 I would love to see how the actual laser measurements are done to make sure it’s all level and true. Not sure how much the lasers will read on camera but that could be cool! And as always, I want to know about the hybrid electrical system and how that will work with electrolysis/corrosion prevention.

Sadie Johnson

Would be great to hear more about the boatbuilders (other than Brian), their background etc

Andrew Berry

Looking forward to all the technical discussions! Get as nerdy as you can. 😉

Stephen

So cool to see Delos 2.0 coming together!!!

Rick

Looking good so far. Can’t wait for some of those time lapses.

Kirk Boston

I can't wait for this!!
