Patron's Only Update Feb. 28th 2024

Hey hey friends!  Lots of cool stuff going on on Delos right now, and we wanted to just tell you a bit of what we're up to (some big sailing plans!) and also the latest on Delos 2.0 (omg it's happening!!!).  And also we wanted to tell you a bit about what kind of changes are coming around here in the Inner Tribe.  We have some cool ideas in ways to stay super connected and give you guys the best seat in the house as this exciting new chapter begins to unfold, but we also want to know if you have some ideas for cool stuff we can share/do/include just for you!  Please let us know your thoughts in the comments.  This week's episode that comes on Friday will be the first in a 3 part series as we really start to unveil what's coming, so we can't wait to release that very soon and hear what you think about it!

We're sending so much love, gratitude, and good vibes your way!

Hey Michael- Oh no, I thought I caught all the comments but seems like I missed something. Yes, you are absolutely 100% correct. I am working on the page today, hope to have up in the next week! PS- Can you send me a direct message here on Patreon with your comments so I can make sure to see it? Cheers- Brian

Brian & Kazza - more good ideas as always. May I suggest you get the patron part of the website, or wherever you'd like all Delos.2.0 comments to be gathered, up and running ASAP!!! Everything (comments, suggestions, and so forth) are flying almost too fast and furious already and I'm sure you'd rather have all of that IN ONE PLACE. I msent comments about two weeks ago that seem to have fallen through the cracks, and mine likely aren't the only ones. I've been a professional architect, specializing in all types of residential and custom home design for 40 years, with vast knowledge of design, and the process. As I'm sure you guys are finding out, this kind of a project can quickly becoming overwhelming, and there are recognized ways to manage a complex design task such as this. I DON'T WANT TO HIJACK the boat design, just lend my expertise and experience to help you ACHIEVE what you dream of without too much compromise and/or marital anguish. BEST

Yes absolutely! Stay tuned ⛵️👍

Sailing SV Delos

Very cool, I will check that out!

Looks like we will have a team of 3 welding full time ( Dan and two helpers) plus me and Kazza also. So our schedule calls for us to be hull complete around November. I think fitout will be another 16 months so looking at 2 years if all goes smoothly. And thats a pretty big IF!

Sailing SV Delos

Thanks for that David, appreciate the comment! Brian

Just looking at the hours to the shell (3300), if the shell construction could be accomplished in one year, that would be 275 hrs a month.. 13 + work hours to a day of you consider 21 work days a month. I think it depends if their builder is working on more than their boat, how quickly Kazza and Brian come along in their skills, and how much of their time will be spent away from construction, sailing. And, that’s just the aluminum shell… Safe to say it’ll be a while…

I appreciate you trying to stay more connected with the people who enjoy your content. I think online happy hours might be something to try. If during those events you gave a few patreons a chance to just give a little intro on their life it would be a good way to open up a little and give those of us on the other side of the screen a chance to have a personal interaction with you both. I have attended multiple of the Patreon events you have hosted in conjunction with the Annapolis Boat show. I have only had a chance to meet Papa Delos and Brady in passing while at those events. You are obviously in high demand. I never expect to actually get to know you, but if you had casual get togethers (virtually) in a way that accommodated different time zones from time to time, it might be an interesting way to stay in touch. Personally I am not trying to delve too deeply into your life. You deserve privacy and I just appreciate all you have put out there into the world and feel like we are all better off getting to enjoy your content. Cheers.

With the first aluminium being cut, how long from now do you think it will take until you get to launch Delos 2.0?

Andrew Berry

It's so much fun to feel your excitement as you embark on this new adventure. Ironically, I just bumped into a piece in Passagemaker magazine (mostly power boats) on a new build of an aluminum Dashew-inspired design. The owners were heavily involved in the build. The piece includes photos of the build process. Thought you might enjoy. Link is https://www.passagemaker.com/cruiser-reviews/project-goldilocks

Zoom cocktail hours are great. Bill and Grace have been having them since the TTYC days. We met you on that first cocktail hour. Boat building videos are personally helpful. I'm managing the completion of a 65' steel schooner destined to be used as a Sail Training vessel on Lake Ontario.

I think my version of the "web cam" idea would be to put a 24-7 camera near the top of the mast and allow Patrons to remote control where the camera is pointing or panning or zooming or whatever. Of course, you could have "black out" times for privacy reasons if need be. Or maybe just certain hours when the camera would be active. It could be like a L O N G Slow TV kind of thing. You could even ask for a small fee in order to "take control" of the camera. Also, I think Brian has brought this up, an underwater dolphin cam on one of the bows - of Delos 2.0.

Scott C. Wise

Excited for the 2.0 show! I would certainly subscribe to a “Brian’s Boat Works” channel.

For sure, some of us could really USE some detailed instruction... have tried in the past and it wasn't straightforward or very much fun.

Colleen Balch

I'm along for the ride. No specific requests but super happy to be here and see what unfolds. Thanks for bringing us along.

I would love to see a catamaran designed for electric/hybrid system. Everything I've seen has a huge diesel engine bay with a tiny electric engine with a generator to the side. You certainly need room to work, but there just seems to be so much unused space. Maybe ask yourself if it can be done better. Like small engine bay with the batteries (and genset) more centrally located.

William Houck

love the happy hour idea and can't wait to see the build! Have a great sail!

Krystal Couture

Thanks for the update guys looking forward to following your journey x

Hey Tim! This and a lot more will be waiting for you when you arrive :) Wishing you beautiful, fast, and comfortable conditions for your crossing!

Awww that's so cute! Say hi to Luna for us 🥰 And love that their are some inner nerds waiting to be unleashed, we're geeking out so hard and we're so happy to hear that we're not the only ones!

Sailing SV Delos

Hey Sadie! We are still working out the best ways to make all these ideas happen logistically...once we decide for sure how the platform will work, we will most definitely give you guys some instructions...because right now we don't even know how to use discord 😆 so that will be step 1 for us if discord is the route we end up taking hahaha

Sailing SV Delos

We can't wait to get going and share every step of the way!

Sailing SV Delos

Awesome, glad to hear that you're loving all things technical. We've got LOTS in store for ya!

Sailing SV Delos

Love you papa Delos!

Sailing SV Delos

I'm bummed. I have to wait at least 2 weeks to see this. Currently intransit between Galapagos and Marquesas and trying to manage my Starlink bill :)

This is awesome! Thanks for the update. Selfishly our family really likes watching the “insider” videos. Our 5yr old, Luna , always has questions for Sierra 🤣. Congrats on big step forward with 2.0! The boat building nerd in me (20 years of small boat building) is geeking out to see this process unfold. I’d be lying if I didn’t get jealous of Super Ryan and his time spent helping. Congrats again from Michigan

Ryan Flack

I guess I should start figuring out discord then! So excited to see everything progress & I love the idea of a happy hour of sorts with you guys!

Sadie Johnson

Anxious to see your updates on the build.

Carol and Greg Gegner

Great update. Really looking forward the the build. I also support Sailing Uma, MJ Sailing, Tally ho, and RAN sailing all of whom are in build. For me these are all great investments! Eric from SV Tevah. Http://Tevah.ca
