[Hereafter] Chapter CIX: From the Depths
Added 2023-07-02 23:00:31 +0000 UTCThis one ballooned again. I wrote 5K words in a single day, and it got to the point where I decided, yeah, I'm gonna split it in half again. Next chapter will be the final chapter of Okeanos, the cleanup and farewell, and it will have the "Beyond the Sea" title this one was originally going to have.
Geez, though. Maybe I shouldn't have made Forneus so huge, because it made him hard to kill. I didn't want it to be as easy as the Flauros fight was, because I didn't want Aife to be the solution they could throw at the problem and have it be solved, but that meant I had to do a whole lot more to make it work.
Not sure yet what this will mean for future Demon Pillar fights, though.

Possibly have it be that the Demon Pillars are learning from how they are defeated? (So no method works twice)

2023-07-03 15:12:56 +0000 UTCAs it is, the only thing she has on her brother is that she's usually quicker to the draw than she is, but I agree that if she's gonna be the one that compatibility-summoned EMIYA, she should be a bit more quick to more "cutting the Gordian Knot"-esque solutions.

2023-07-03 15:10:27 +0000 UTCSo... this is becoming a recurring pattern, but another rare opportunity for Rika to demonstrate herself as the practical-minded/cold-blooded (tactics-wise) of the twins is lost by ***Ritsuka*** suggesting the just-in-case-kill-steal to Jalter. Rika *really*, **really** needs an opportunity to be more than the resident comedic relief; as matters currently stand? Ritsuka just ends up making most of her (current) plot relevance secondary, even downright redundant.

The next singularity should be london... where there are several pillars and also 'Solomon' so that solves itself. Then there's clan catalin in america which is also several at once. Then amun-ra in camelot which doesn't actually matter but is technically a god, and none in babylonia at all. Leaving just all of them simultaneously and also Goetia at the temple. Basically standard individual pillars stop being the climax past this point. And that's before factoring in whatever changes you make.

But what do I know I just enjoy the excellence. There is something satisfying about Taylor finally being able to take down an opponent through superior dakka.
