This went on for longer than I expected it to, to the point where I had to cut the second half off because it was going to double the size of this chapter and make it balloon — past 10K, based upon the individual word counts of each one.
You may recognize shades of the canon dialogue in this part. It couldn't be helped. I really wanted it to come down to everyone teaming up and bringing down Herk by working together to each take at least one life, but Taylor realized the exact same thing I did: even with all of that, the numbers weren't really going to add up.
So like I said. It couldn't be helped.
