This gave me some difficulty, not the least of which because I'm still getting a handle on Nero's personality. That's why it started late, and why it took longer to finish than I would have liked.
You can thank the editing team for that ending, though. "Haven't things been grim and dour for a lot of the most recent chapters? This one should be funny and light," was basically how that conversation went. What you saw was actually what was suggested.
Well, that's the result. I took the idea and ran with it.
Also, as a last note, I went with the "translation" of Nero's "umu" just because it really does sound ridiculous and weebish for a Roman emperor speaking Latin to use an archaic Japanese vocalized affirmative. I'm sorry, but it would have trampled all over my suspension of disbelief otherwise and thrown me completely out of my own damn narrative.

2022-04-05 17:05:05 +0000 UTC"Umu!" is basically just to old, old, old version of the modern "Un!" You can translate that numerous ways, and in fact it has been. "Yeah!" "Yup!" and "Mmhm!" are just three of the myriad ways a translator might do so.

2022-04-05 16:58:43 +0000 UTCI hadn't thought of it before, but Nero does make a very excellent counterpoint to Taylor's character, doesn't she. Comedic,Teasing but Good Hearted, Extroverted, and more than a tad naive in some regards. It will be fun to see more of their by play going forward.
