Again, not replacing Essence, but one of the possible successors to it once it's finished. Essence will continue to its inevitable end.
Anyway, this is quite a bit shorter than I usually write, even shorter than the shortest of Essence's chapters. As a litmus test, I might actually need to write another two chapters before you can actually get a good idea of what this story's about and where the idea might go.

No, haha! Unfortunately, I'm not a genius of mechanical engineering, so I'd probably butcher trying to explain all the technical aspects of her putting her tech together. The idea was to start off there, and move on pretty quickly to her best stuff. Unfortunately, this is still mostly an idea, because I don't have a solid direction of where to take the story. That's why it's just a look, for now. A litmus test.

I will say that I hope this won't have the 20+ chapters of Taylor rummaging around in the junkyard trying to build tools to build tools, ad nauseum that some tinker stories seem to get caught up in. I do think this is, like you said, going need a few more chapters to really show us where you want to go with it.
