Gaming Historica | Ghouls n’ Ghosts X68000 development story

The Capcom team in the 1980’s and 1990’s was told to bring Ghouls 'n Ghosts/Daimakaimura to the X68000 home Japanese PC..this was a very powerful arcade game and they thought it maybe can not be done. However Capcom was actually using the X68000 PC hardware to test many of their CPS (Capcom play system) arcade games in the offices bechase the electronics chip design is very similar!!

The programmer team for Ghouls n’ Ghosts have many late night at Capcom’s Osaka offices on the X68000. They had to carefully make the coding to be so perfect to the arcade version.. to do this they very carefully changed slightly the enemy attack forms. By cutting around with this they could save memory space and help to add the background graphics and famous music. It was very clever code trick!!

In 1989 the X68000 versions of Ghouls 'n Ghosts was thought to be like a miracle almost exactly like the arcade!

Love the G&G series, one of my favourites. Especially Super G&G on the SNES.
