The light novel also keeps it pretty vague to be fair. At the start of episode 2 we see the other half of the scene where Violet is given to Gilbert by Dietfried. In that scene he mentions he found her in the northeastern front. At the end of episode 5 we also see the scene on the ship where Violet kills Dietfrieds men. I believe in some episode i dont remember exactly which it is also mentioned that "she is a child soldier from the north" but it was ommited in the netflix translation of the dialogue., so we can infer it is something along the lines of trained from birth to kill and nothing else. A lot of these details were probably omitted due to the length of the series and also not being paramount to the conveyed message. In the light novel Dietfried finds her on an island not on his ship. Back when she was a child, Violet was found on a deserted island alone after Dietfried Bougainvillea and his comrades' ship became stranded. She didn't have a name at the time, and Dietfried was unsure if she had become orphaned or if she had suffered an accident in the sea just like them. Although Dietfried didn't have any intention of doing anything since he was already annoyed by her presence and unresponsiveness, some of his subordinates approached Violet and attempted to "have their way with her". Before Dietfried was able to stop them, Violet killed them in response. She killed everyone but Dietfried as he tried to stop his men, then he began following him around. There are a few more details about Diefried showcasing her capabilities to the army but all of that is inferred in the anime through flashbacks. These scenes were most likely omitted from the anime for being too graphic. I hope this helps to give her a bit more context! Also regarding the music Marco, did you think about reacting to the animes OSTs before starting to watch them as a separate series?
