This is probably a very personal opinion, but I kinda wish the mom apologized to Iris? The whole "hey quit your job so you can get married" thing is really mean to say lol. At least from my perspective, I dunno. I don't think Iris getting angry at her about that was too far.

You said you've worked really hard to speak and own the things you say in a way to be understood by others, while Violet is someone having to work really hard to understand others, and not through a hard inability, but from lack of experience and context. Kind of both directions for getting after the mis/communication question.

One of the few explicit callouts in this one to how many of the characters are named after flowers. With flower meanings their names seem intentional for the qualities of their character. Violet - Modesty, faithfulness, love Iris - Hope Cattleya (cat-lee-ah) - mature charm, beauty, luxury Erica - Admiration, solitude Luculia - pure heart More name nerdiness for the main location: Leiden the capital and Leidenschaftlich the country translate from German to "Suffering" and "Passionate" respectively.
