2025-07-18 23:11:46 +0000 UTCI absolutely love how this episode contrasts against most of what we've seen of Frieren before. At this point we definitely know that she has 0 tolerance with demons, but to see her order Aura to off herself like that, just, absolutely brutal. I just love the fact she's usually to laid back in normal day-to-day stuff, but once it's time to get serious, you better not get in her way.

2025-01-13 17:55:07 +0000 UTCA bit late, but I learned a cool detail in this episode I just had to share. The timelapse of the town growing between Flamme's death and meeting the other party members is about 100x longer (50 s) than the flashbacks of the journey (~0.5 s). Frieren said previously that their journey together wasn't even one 100th of her life, so these durations are actually to scale. Really puts into perspective how long she has lived.

2025-01-12 23:35:33 +0000 UTCThanks for the reaction, watching just before the year changes here! I get being disheartened by the subreddit and such, but here's what I've seen: I've been on various anime and whatnot discussion places, and it's pretty common for people to just mention out of the blue what Frieren has taught them or meant to them, or to say as much when it gets mentioned. I think ironically the subreddit is a bad place to see that, because the show finished airing the better part of a year ago and there's not much else for people to talk about there except to post fanart (often a bit horny since that gets the clicks) or to make jokes or memes. They've talked tons about the deeper ideas and what they meant to them already, the fact that they're still showing up at all means they still care even after they've said everything they have to say I suppose. Such boards are always a bit of a ridiculous place, but most of the real discussion happens when episodes are airing.

2025-01-01 02:12:39 +0000 UTCFrieren is absolutely a show that can inspire in-depth conversations. There are several video essays within Frieren that are pretty good analyses of the topics that Frieren talks about, like Frieren's introspection, hard vs soft magic, life and death and longing. Also, Frieren loved magic until she was instructed on how to use it to bludgeon demons to death. It's hard to love something like that, that was a fun hobby, but made into a thankless job. Also, I find it really interesting that Frieren kills the demons in the ways they tried to kill her. I love that music at the end of the episode at the climax. It hypes me up.

2024-12-31 04:44:56 +0000 UTCYeah, Frieren defeating Aura quickly became one of the great anime moments. Everything is firing on all cylinders. And I remember thinking about the perspective of time for Frieren in relation to my own life as well. Definitely gives you something to think about, the different moments in life, the relationships with other people.

2024-12-31 04:15:24 +0000 UTCReddit is really not the place to look for deep conversations lol. Before I watched the Frieren anime I had read the novel to another anime, Mushoku Tensei. I doubt you'll get to it because the you either tolerate the main character or hate him/get creeped out by him and his actions. Anyways, the further I got in the story the sadder I became because its his story of becoming a better person, finding love for his family, and those close to him. The story shows you his childhood, teen years, and young adult. So the more I read the more I kept on thinking about my life, how eventually I will have to experience the loss of my loved ones, how I will lose some connections and make some new connections. It really gave me that thought of "damn I kinda don't want so much to change". What I appreciate more about the story is how Rudeus, the main character, is not a chosen. He is the one the brings about the start of a change but not the one that finishes that change. i think you will also like the appearance of a character that appears later on in the show and her relationship towards her students and humans later down the lines.
