@29:40
I know this is coming very late, but in case anyone stumbles on this and is curious:
The instrument is the uilleann pipes! A smaller, softer, more melodic pipe. Also known as the union or Irish pipes, they're also a national pipe of Ireland. The track name is, "Beyond the Journey's End"

26:16 : "She says it's a mere ten-year journey"
Actually, I think there is a nuance between the then Frieren and the now Frieren saying that same sentence. Back then, the "mere" sounded dismissive, as if that period of time was so short it didn't matter. But now, she says it with a smile. It's still very short to her, but it matters, so she has to make the most of it in that brief time period before it is over.

HOLY COW. That reply jump-scared me, haha. Thanks man!
Oh, so uh... as long as I've got you here, you going to be jumping into Warframe 1999? :D I'm not sure I'm even far enough to do it yet.

Been loving these, but one thing on the production side... Would it be possible to get 15%~ more volume from the show?
I'm finding myself turning up the volume to hear more detail in the music but then turning it down because your voice becomes too loud (for me.) Not sure if others would share the sentiment.

I believe Fern is 17 during the events of Episodes 4 and 5. The best way to track her age is when they show how long it's been since Himmel's death as Fern was born 11 years after he died. So if the Journey goes the full 10 years or longer then she could not see the end of it until she's 27 or older. I'm interested to see how she develops as a person with this journey likely to encompass just about her entire young adulthood.

So, you mentioned not feeling the OP belonging there a few times already, and id actually have a recommendation there.
The Band, Yoasobi, made the song specifically for the Anime (as i do believe they usually do) even received a small sidestory to build the song around to. and they also made a full English version of the Song called "The Brave", just watchable on youtube. i really highly recommend checking out both just the full version and the english version, and be it just on your own time rather than a reaction, because it shows how much care they put into making it FIT, even if it doesnt from an audio standpoint <3

Yeah I truly felt that 'Fuck you Evan Call'. Frieren is always a joy to watch and I cant wait to rewatch one of my favourite substories in Frieren again.

I'm sure someone has probably suggested this, but I would definitely like to see you check out Violet Evergarden eventually. Evan Call also did the music for that series.

Would love to hear your reaction to the ending song at some point. It was also specifically produced by Evan Call and generally fits the themes of Frieren to a tee. The opening theme is a cool song on its own but as you suspect, pretty much everyone's reaction was "this doesn't fit the show." Second OP is much better received in that regard so I'm interested in seeing if you'll agree when you get to that point.

Hi Marco, I loved the reaction! One point of clarification: Fern is currently 16 years old. When she talks about spending half her life with Frieren, she means half her life *so far,* as Frieren came to stay with Heiter about eight years before this episode. Frieren and Fern have been traveling together for about two years at this point.

yeah the way the music swells in the Flamme theme literally destroys me, it's such a wonderful representation not only of her character but also of the saplings and how they grow into something so much bigger.
Whenever I think about Flamme and her voice actress (who unfortunately passed away not long after Frieren came out) I get so emotional - definitely recommend listening to 'Great Mage Flamme' as a standalone track when you get the chance, even if you don't do a video on it. She's such a special character to me despite her minimal screentime.

I just want to point out one thing. You are gonna dehydrate while watching Violet Evergarden :D
Love the reactions as always and cannot wait for more.

Loving the reactions. Frieren's anime is a wonderful example of elevation through adaptation. There's no denying just how fundamentally solid and beautiful a creative work the manga is but its translation into animation coupled with the voice acting and Evan Call's phenomenal soundtrack has resulted in something transcendant. Looking forward to continuing to accompany you on this journey.

Yeah, many felt that OP didn't fit but its still a good song. My favorite one is the second opening though which I think you will also love a lot more. Also, it would be cool to leave some time after the reactions for you to reflect on each episode since you don't get to do that while watching it. Like when it made you cry in the first half of episode 4 you could have delved deeper into why it was so effective.
