Quick Question on the CRT Filter
Added 2024-07-25 12:20:24 +0000 UTCRunning into a weird bug where the screen flickers now and then while I'm playing the game, and last night when I was testing a website the game crashed out right and put my video card in a weird state. Wondering if the CRT filter for the desktop computer, the one with the rounded Edges and scan lines , destabilizing the engine. That's on top of it making the pixel text harder to read in general.
So I'm thinking about getting rid of that filter. I'll keep the LCD filter for the laptop computer because that one doesn't really use any unique visual effects, it's just an overlay, but the scan lines and curved glass while very authentic seem to be causing issues. What do you think? Should we get rid of it?

That's already an option. You can turn off the retro filters. But this is me just speculating I think just having the option available is causing crashes. It's really hard to figure out the core problem here. I've uploaded the new beta, and I'll wait to see if anybody else is experiencing this or if it's just my own computer having some stabilization issues issues.

2024-07-27 07:50:24 +0000 UTCI'm not sure where to begin. There's no clear trigger and no error message. I just sometimes get flickering broken frames, and once the game outright crashed with nothing in the error log. How the heck do you debug that? And I use Renpy so it's not like I made the engine by hand, I have no idea what's going on under the hood.

2024-07-25 23:41:19 +0000 UTCdo you need a hand debugging it?

2024-07-25 23:39:38 +0000 UTCI really like the sense of time/place the CRT filter gives, but obviously having a more stable game is way more important. Maybe remove it for now and leave a note to try to troubleshoot later on down the road if you're feeling it?

2024-07-25 17:11:56 +0000 UTCMaybe experiment a little to see if it's really the CRT filter messing with the engine, or if it's something else but overall? I'd rather have a stable game than the most authentic-looking experience.

2024-07-25 16:08:18 +0000 UTCI...have no opinion on this. I mean, I'm not going to be thinking about how the CRT looks while I'm playing. So, I'd do whatever you think is going to break player immersion the least.
