I liked your comments here about how Crockett and Tubbs ground each other in the job they do and you're very right. As this episode shows the toll undercover work can have on people can often lead to tragic circumstances and Ed O'Neill turns in a really good guest shot here as a man who's obviously seen too much and is on the verge of burn out. It's a great straight role for him as he's mostly known for his famous comedic role of Al Bundy from the sitcom Married With Children and now is also known for Modern Family. The ending where we discover his character's fate is really shocking and sad. This definitely was the first television show to picture the real danger and cost of the work at times and was such a groundbreaker in a lot of ways. Also very like Kevin Sorbo and Michael Hurst in Hercules and Lucy Lawless and Renee O'Connor in Xena, Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas seemed to have an instant and special chemistry with each other on screen. P.S. the story about the gangs cutting off women's hair was wild!
