Well, I suspected you might like this episode. Since you sort of inquired, in the case of this particular episode, it was directed by a woman, Marina Sargenti, and written by another, Chris Manheim. The character of Miss Artiphys (Artifice, that's a joke) was inspired by Manheim's late brother. This episode has a lot to recommend it, and I have fond memories of it; it was great to see Salmoneus on Xena again, and I really liked his musical numbers. This episode just reminds me of the time when Xena and Hercules were right in the thick of their greatness. (As for characters who are gay or others who were what might have been called transsexual at the time, there were certainty numerous examples on TV, and had been for a while.) In any case, I'm really glad you enjoyed it so much!
