You make a great point about Lex. Nobody truly believes in him but notice that the only one that does is Clark. That is why lex cares so much about him. That fact that Johnathan doesn't believe in lex also really hurts because as they said this episode He believes in everybody. Lex fucked up this episode but he tried to fix it even though he lied to Clark and everyone else about his involvement. None of this was on purpose or trying to hurt anyone it is just a fuck up by not watching over his employees which he fixed at the end.
