This is one of those episodes where we see Xena influencing the future; Galen and Hippocrates were real historical figures. (They're probably very unfair to Galen here; he was a respected physician and philosopher. Hippocrates, of course, is the source of the Hippocratic oath, among other contributions to medicine.) The return of Ephiny is great, the death of Phantes is sad, and the birth of their child is memorable. Marmax is a good character. But I know the standout element of this episode is the near-death and resuscitation of Gabrielle. It's excellent. And Xena's naked anguish and subsequent joy was an awesome emotional display. (Hey, it worked on you! 🙂) ... Oh, it's gangrene (pronounced gang-green in North America) in English.
