Temporary cards are one or two extra cards; the number and bonus cards they offer vary slightly depending on your tier level.
What will change is the duration of the bonus cards; they will only be available for 4 to 5 days.
There are two types:
New Temporary Card: These are always new characters.
Free-Choice Temporary Card: You can request a card without the level restrictions (most often these are outfits not available at level 1).
I don't call it "free cards" because you must be at least level 1 to request them.
In short, whenever a new temporary card is available, you can request it without worrying about it reducing your available card count, In fact, sometimes you can even get double the number of cards depending on your tier level.
Once the temporary card's validity period expires, it can only be obtained by requesting it like a regular card.

PS: The new temporary card will be available until this weekend, although it no longer includes bonus cards.
