When the nano-microbe Angel starts his virus thing attacking the systems, the kids inside the simulation entry-plugs get ejected from the testing bodies they had set up for their test. It's a very quick shot amid all the chaos, but apparently they were meant to get shot up into the lake we see them at the end. They stay there for the rest of the episode.
