This episode was great as we have only seen Angel before his soul. Right after his soul and the future where he is helping people but never the inbetween. Angel did not just turn good when he got his soul. That’s not how that works. The soul made him feel guilt about his past deeds that’s it and keep him from just killing people (like we saw in the faith episode) He didn’t really care about humans until this episode which we saw did not work out for him at all.
