My great-grandmother died in her 50s. In the photos I've seen of her she looked like she was in her late 70s or early 80s. People born in the 19th and early 20th centuries had a very stressful life by today's standards. It takes its toll.

It's an act of pure desperation and most individuals aren't considering repaying the loan and the possible consequences if they don't. In the last couple years more women have actually started dying from heart attacks than men. The reasons are that more men are taking care of themselves and the symptoms of a heart attack aren't usually as severe in women so it's less likely they realize they need medical attention until it's too late. You are right that 56 is typically young, but it's not unusual. I've known a couple people to have ,and one die from, heart attacks in their 30's.
