Modular PrefPlus Input

Hi all - I've had quite a few requests over time to make PrefPlus more modular instead of massive like it is now. Obviously I split out Seasons/Weather/Holidays recently, but how else would you like to see the mod broken out? I've been working on a batch of new preferences in a new set of files based on ModConstructor v5, but it seems like I need to spend some time refactoring first.

In summary, which parts of PrefPlus would you like to see broken out from the main mod, if possible?

Hi there, not sure if I'm too late for this already, but personally, I'm not too interested in the "Outfit", "Venue" or "Personal" module. I sometimes use them (mostly in a couple of older savefiles), but barely. I'd much rather these options were not there at all, the main mod can feel quite overwhelming at times with all these options; especially now that Growing Together is out, the preference tab is a bit too cluttered for my taste. So I kinda second Cydo's inquiry above from a couple of week ago if you could somehow offer a 'blank module' and let everyone pick and choose the modules they'd like. Thank you for your time and consideration 💕

The main reason is because I'm a bit lazy when it comes to personalization. Some modules like interests and dining preferences might interest me, but I never really went through them as I felt a bit overwhelmed seeing all of the categories. Other categories such as personal preferences and venue preferences aren't of any interest to me, it's a bit much details for lazy me haha! But I'm sure a lot of people are interested in them, that's why a modular mod would be awesome so everyone can have what they want!

Thank you Pyxie! For what it's worth, my mod and add-ons should be compatible with others that add new preferences, but if they happen to add similar ones it would be duplicative. Let me know if you do see any conflicts!

Thank you for your input, Cydo! Do you mind if I ask why you're not interested in any of the other categories? Is it that you feel they don't sufficiently fit in with Maxis-match gameplay?

I like the modular idea as well. Would likely even make it more compatible - like say Occult Preferences or Lunar Phase Preferences that you see on other mods. Gives us an option on whether to use yours or theirs.

Perhaps if that is time that could better be spent elsewhere; I am honestly not sure if I would use that module if those preferences were separated out, but I don't want to speak for others who make love it. Initially, food preferences were one of the things I was most excited about, but I have not really noticed that big of an impact compared with some of the other preferences, and sometimes I click to auto solve their hunger, and they make something they dislike, and I'm like "why did you make it if you hate it?" lol. I do like the idea of them being tied to flavor preferences of the infant food, though, so if you added that, I'd be more tempted, but that would probably be even more work so... The main reason I suggested this, however, wasn't so much about not wanting it as that it is a big "clump" of commonly themed things that made sense to put together separate from the more personality-based things. If you are trying for modular but don't want every individual thing separate, I thought it made sense to have the core, the food/drink related stuff, and the stuff that added socials as the parts.

Hi Helaene! Personally I'd love for your mod to be (if that's possible) split up with a main "blank" module, and every category as an addon to this module. I am myself only interested in the hobby extension aspect of your mod, I never use the other categories. So I'd love to be able to pick only the modules that interest me, maybe for better optimization (game ressources not used for modules I don't play with) or just to reduce the visual clutter in CAS. Thank you for everything!

Thanks Sheila! Do you mind elaborating on why you'd like food/drink/flavor separate? Is it because you'd rather not use those, and if so, why? I'm curious if I should take out some of the very time-intensive moodlet and autonomy stuff if people aren't enjoying it. Thanks!

Personally, I'd love to see food/drink/flavor preferences and interests as add-ons. I'd also really love to see interests separated into child and adult interests where, either child interests would disappear upon age up to teen, or where the interests were expanded to change socials when they age up. Ex: interest in adventure has current socials for kids, but, as adults, they can talk about wanting to visit Mt. K or try new foods at the spice festival, etc.

Personally...and I know it might be too much work, but I appreciate an "all in one" option and hope it can still be possible to have the choice to either have it all together and/or also separated out for those who only want certain things if that's what you're planning on or if this is what you "prefer" ;) I have many mods to the point of exceeding the recursion level depth and so it complicates it when things formerly were only considered one mod and then become numerous mods when they didn't need to be. Hope that makes sense. Good luck figuring out what works best for you!
